Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority Organises Atal Pension Yojana Annual Felicitation Event in New Delhi
- The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) held the APY Annual Felicitation Programme in New Delhi.
- Awards were presented to 44 APY Service Providers (SPs), 10 State Level Bankers’ Committees (SLBCs), and the top 5 branches and Lead District Managers for their excellent performance in FY 2024-25.
- The Atal Pension Yojana (APY) has been successfully implemented across all States and Union Territories.
- The total gross enrolments under APY surpassed 11 crore as of August 21, 2025, with 1.17 crore new subscribers added in FY 2024-25.
- In FY 2024-25, 55% of the new enrolments were women.
- The leading achievers among Public Sector Banks were Bank of India (126%), SBI (123%), and Indian Bank (118%), followed by Punjab & Sind Bank (106%) and Union Bank of India (103%).
- For Private Banks, IDBI Bank was the top performer with a 145% achievement.
- Among Regional Rural Banks (RRBs), Jharkhand Rajya Gramin Bank (393%) and Tripura Gramin Bank (351%) set new benchmarks.
- At the State level, the top SLBC achievers were Jharkhand (184%), Bihar (175%), and Tripura (158%), followed by West Bengal (148%) and Assam (130%).
Suryoday Small Finance Bank Introduces RuPay Select and RuPay Platinum Secured Credit Cards Backed by Fixed Deposits
- Suryoday Small Finance Bank (SSFB) has launched two secured credit cards – RuPay Select and RuPay Platinum, backed by fixed deposits (FDs) as collateral.
- These cards are UPI-integrated, issued instantly in virtual form, and are targeted at first-time credit users, homemakers, and retirees to promote responsible credit habits.
- The RuPay Platinum Card requires a minimum FD of ₹1,000, while the RuPay Select Card requires an FD of ₹1,11,500.

- The bonds will be issued through SBI’s London branch on 9th September 2025.
- They will be listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange and the NSE-IX Exchange, GIFT City.
- The bond sale by SBI is the first investment grade issuance from India after the S&P sovereign rating upgrade.

India’s Coal Imports Decline 16.4% in July Due to Weak Demand
- India’s coal imports dropped 16.4% to 21.08 million tonnes (MT) in July 2025 due to sluggish demand during monsoon and high stock availability.
- In the year-ago period, coal imports were 25.23 MT, showing a decline year-on-year.
- During April–July 2025, total coal imports stood at 97.49 MT, down from 100.48 MT in the same period last year.
- Of the July imports, non-coking coal was 11.54 MT (down from 16.52 MT last year), while coking coal was 5.85 MT (up from 4.81 MT last year).
- In April–July 2025, non-coking coal imports stood at 60.62 MT (lower than 65.64 MT last year), while coking coal imports increased to 22.22 MT from 20.26 MT last year.
- The government remains committed to sustainable growth, improving coal availability, and reducing import dependence.

History
- World Suicide Prevention Day was observed on 10 September 2003.
- This day was first announced by the International Association for Suicide Prevention(IASP) and the World Health Organization(WHO).
- In 1960 the IASP was established by the late Professor Erwin Ringel and Dr. Norman Faberlow in Vienna.
- This organization is a non-governmental which is concerned with suicide prevention.
- The first World Suicide Report was released in 2014 “Preventing Suicide: A Global Imperative”, It is focused on suicide prevention and makes it a high priority on the global public agenda.
