Answers :

Direction (1-5) :

1) Answer: b)

The total number of boys passed in the year 2012 from college P = 459

54 % of total students passed from college P in the year 2012 = 459

Total students passed from college P in the year 2012 = 459*(100/54)

Total number of girls passed in the year 2012 from college P

= > 459*(100/54)*(46/100) = 391

The total number of boys passed in the year 2012 from college Q = 342

38 % of total students passed from college Q in the year 2012 = 342

Total students passed from college Q in the year 2012 = 342*(100/38)

Total number of girls passed in the year 2012 from college Q

= > 342*(100/38)*(62/100) = 558

Required total = 391 + 558 = 949

2) Answer: a)

The total number of students passed in the year 2014 from college P = 900

The total number of boys passed from college P in the year 2014

= > 900*(50/100) = 450

The total number of students passed in the year 2016 from college Q = 880

The total number of girls passed from college Q in the year 2016

= > 880*(40/100) = 352

Required % = (450/352)*100 = 128 %

3) Answer: d)

The total number of students passed from college P in the year 2011 = The total number of students passed from college Q in the year 2013 = x

Required ratio = [x*(46/100)] : [x*(53/100)]

= > 46: 53

4) Answer: c)

The total number of girls passed from college P in the year 2016 = The total number of girls passed from college Q in the year 2015

The total number of students passed from college Q in the year 2015 = 920

The total number of girls passed from college Q in the year 2015

= > 920*(45/100) = 414

The total number of girls passed from college P in the year 2016 = 414

(46/100)*Total students passed from college P in the year 2016 = 414

Total students passed from college P in the year 2016 = 414*(100/46) = 900

5) Answer: b)

The total number of students passed from college Q in the year 2014 = 850

Total girls passed from college Q in the year 2014 = 850*(44/100) = 374

The total number of students passed from college Q in the year 2016 = 880

Total girls passed from college Q in the year 2016 = 880*(40/100) = 352

Required average = (374 + 352)/2 = 726/2 = 363

Direction (6-10) :

6) Answer: c)

Quantity I:

SI = (P*n*r)/100

14000 = (P*5*8)/100

P = (14000*100)/40 = Rs. 35000

Quantity II:

C.I = P*[(1 + (r/100))3 – 1]

6305 = P*[(1 + 5/100)3 – 1]

6305 = P*[(105/100)3 – 1]

6305 = P*[(21/20)3 – 1]

6305 = P*[(9261/8000) – 1]

6305 = P*[1261/8000]

P = (6305*8000)/1261 = Rs. 40000

Quantity I < Quantity II

7) Answer: c)

Quantity I:

3 years ago, the ratio of age of A and B = 3: 4 (3x, 4x)

According to the question,

3x + 4x + 10 = 45

7x = 35

X = 5

The present age of A = 3x + 3 = 18 years

Quantity II:

5 years ago, the ratio of age of P and Q = 3: 4 (3x, 4x)

According to the question,

3x + 5 + 6 = 4x + 5

X = 6

The present age of P = 3x + 5 = 18 + 5 = 23 years

Quantity I < Quantity II

8) Answer: a)

Quantity I:

According to the question,

(4500*12)/(8000*x) = (3/4)

X = 9 months

Quantity II:

According to the question,

(2*9)/(3*x) = (3/4)

18/3x = (3/4)

72 = 9x

X = (72/9) = 8 months

Quantity I > Quantity II

9) Answer: a)

Quantity I:

Total probability n(S) = 15C3

Required probability n(E) = 1 – P(none is yellow)

Probability of getting none is yellow balls,

P(E) = n(E)/n(S) = 12C3/15C3

= > 44/91

Required probability = 1 – (44/91) = 47/91

Quantity II:

Total probability n(S) = 15C2

Required probability n(E) = 7C2 or 5C2

P(E) = n(E)/n(S) = 7C2 or 5C2 / 15C2

= > (21 + 10)/105 = 31/105

= > 31/105

Quantity I > Quantity II

10) Answer: a)

Quantity I:

Downstream speed = 120/6 = 20 km/hr

Upstream speed = 20*(4/5) = 16 km/hr

Speed of boat in still water = ½ *(20 + 16) = 18 km/hr

Quantity II:

Downstream speed = 160/8 = 20 km/hr

Downstream speed = Speed of boat in still water + speed of stream

Let the speed of boat be x,

=> x + 8 = 20

=> x = 12 km/hr

Speed of boat in still water = 12 km/hr

Quantity I > Quantity II
