SSC CHSL Exam Pattern: Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is the recruiting body which conducts various SSC exams. One of the most famous exams conducted by SSC is the SSC CHSL exam. Every year lakhs of candidates apply for vacancies released by the SSC. The candidates are posted in various Ministries after the final result is declared. SSC CHSL 2020 Notification details

The Tier-I exam for the SSC CHSL way delayed for some candidates due to the complete nationwide lockdown. However, now SSC has released the exam dates for these candidates. The Tier-1 exam of SSC CHSL will be conducted from 12.10.2020 to 16.10.2020, 19.10.2020 to 21.10.2020 and 26.10.2020 for the remaining candidates.

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern Overview

The SSC CHSL exam pattern consists of three sections namely:

  1. Tier-I (Computer Based Examination)
  2. Tier-II (Offline Descriptive Paper)
  3. Tier-III (Skill / Typing test)

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern – Tier-I

The SSC CHSL Tier-I is an Objective Multiple Choice exam which is conducted online. The SSC CHSL Tier-I consists of four sections. Each section consists of 25 questions each with 2 marks for each question marked right. There will be a negative marking of 0.5 marks for every question marked wrong. The time duration of SSC CHSL tier-1 exam is 1 hour.

The SSC CHSL Tier-I exam pattern tests the Aptitude, Reasoning, General Awareness and English Language parts in a candidate. The SSC CHSL Tier-I exam is mostly a game of speed + accuracy.

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern – Tier-II

As per the SSC CHSL Exam pattern, the SSC CHSL Tier-II will be a descriptive paper of 100 marks. The paper would consist of any essay and letter writing. This would be a pen and paper-based exam. Candidates would be given a composite time to complete the Tier-II paper. There would be a word limit for the descriptive papers.

Important Notes:

  • Candidates must score a minimum of 33 per cent marks to qualify the Tier-II exam.
  • The Descriptive paper can be attempted in both English and Hindi.
  • The Tier-II marks will be added to make the final merit list.

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern – Tier-III

Tier-III exam in the SSC CHSL exam pattern consists of skill/typing test. Candidates will be called for this test in an authorized lab where they will be required to type a content given to them by the authorities. The skill test is different for DEOs, LDC and PA/SA.

Data Entry Operator Data Entry Speed of 8,000 Key Depressions per hour on Computer. The ‘Speed of 8000 key depressions per hour on computer’ will be adjudged on the basis of the correct entry of words/ key depressions as per the given passage The duration of the Test will be 15 minutes and printed matter in English containing about 2000-2200 key-depressions would be given to each candidate who would enter the same in the Computer
Data Entry Operator in the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG) The ‘speed of 15000 key depressions per hour on Computer’ will be adjudged on the basis of the correct entry of words/ key depressions as per the given passage The duration of the Test will be 15 minutes and printed matter in English containing about 3700-4000 key-depressions would be given to each candidate who would enter the same in the Computer

Typing Test for LDC/JSA and Postal Assistant / Sorting Assistant

Note:

  • Tier-III is of qualifying in nature.
  • The medium of the Typing Test will be Hindi and English. The candidates will have to opt for the medium of Typing Test (i.e. either Hindi or English) in the online Application Form.
  • After the candidates qualify all the Tiers as explained in the SSC CHSL exam pattern, they will be called for the final document verification.
