The IBPS Clerk exam is conducted in two stages that are Preliminary exam and Mains exam. You can get the allotment order only if you clear both the rounds. IBPS Clerk Exam Pattern 2019
Phase- I: Preliminary Examination
The IBPS Clerk Preliminary exam is a computer-based online test. The marks obtained in this test are not considered for the preparation of the merit list. Anyhow you should clear the sectional and overall cut-offs for the prelims exam. Only then you will be allowed to take the mains exam. The total time for the preliminary exam is 1 hour. There are totally three sections in the exam that are the English language, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning ability. The total number of questions in this exam are 100. Every question gives you 1 mark. There is negative marking and 0.25 marks are deducted for each wrong answer. so don’t do guess works in the exam.

Phase – II: Main Examination
The candidates clearing the prelims exam will take the mains exam. The mains exam mark is considered for merit list preparation. The mains exam will have four sections that are General/Financial Awareness, English language, Reasoning ability & Computer aptitude, and quantitative aptitude.
The number of questions in general/financial awareness is 50. In the English language section, 40 questions are asked. In reasoning ability and computer aptitude section 50 questions will be asked. The quantitative aptitude section has 50 questions. There are total of 190 questions. There are sectional timings for each sections. So you cannot swap between the sections. Also, 1/4th of the marks are deducted for each wrong answer.
