Normalization in SBI PO Scores:

The process of normalization has been adopted for calculating the final cut off score of SBI PO 2020. The procedure for calculating cut off score is given below. The recruitment of candidates is done strictly on the basis of SBI PO result cum merit list.

The difficulty level of the exam will vary in each exam slot. Some shifts will have an easy question paper. While some other shifts will have difficult papers. So there will be an imbalance  among the marks of the candidates. In other words, the candidates in difficult shifts will get affected and may score lower than the candidates in easier shifts. To correct this, the normalization process is applied to the scores of the candidates. Candidates clearing the SBI PO cut off with the corrected score are qualified in the exam.

The normalization process will arrive in the following steps.

  • In the first step, the percentile rank of the candidates is calculated. For that a formula is given below.

Candidate’s percentile rank = {(Total number of students in a slot) – (Rank of the candidate in that slot) / (Total number of students in a slot – 1)} * 100

  • Using the formula, the percentile score of all the candidates are calculated. With these corrected scores, the candidates clearing the SBI PO cut off are eligible for selection.
