RBI Grade B 2020 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates should be able to fulfill the mentioned requirements to be able to apply online as per the RBI Grade B 2020 Recruitment Notification

1. Nationality

As per the RBI Grade B Recruitment Notification, Candidate must be a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who is permanently settled in India prior to January 1, 1962, or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from either Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam with the intention of residing permanently in India.

2. Age Limit

As per the RBI Grade B Recruitment Notification

Minimum age limit- 21 years

Maximum age limit- 30 years

3. Educational Qualifications

RBI Grade B Recruitment Notification quotes the

following criteria standards regarding the educational qualification.

(a) Officers in Grade ‘B’ (DR) – (General):

As per the RBI Grade B recruitment notification, educational qualification for Officers in Grade ‘B’ (DR) – general is,

Minimum 60% marks (50% in case of SC/ST/PwBD) or an equivalent grade in Bachelor’s degree as well as in 12th (or Diploma or equivalent) and 10th Standard examinations.

According to the RBI Grade B recruitment notification, the minimum qualifying percentage or an equivalent grade for the Bachelor’s degree will be in aggregate for all semesters/years.

(b) Officers in Grade ‘B’ (DR) – DEPR:

As per the RBI Grade B recruitment notification, educational qualification for Officers in Grade ‘B’ (DR) – DEPR is,

A Master’s Degree in Economics / Econometrics / Quantitative Economics / Mathematical Economics / Integrated Economics Course/ Finance, with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters /years from a recognized Indian or Foreign University /Institute;

OR

PGDM/ MBA Finance with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters /years from a recognized Indian or Foreign University /Institute;

OR

Master’s Degree in Economics in any of the subcategories of economics i.e. agricultural/ business/ developmental/ applied, etc., with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters /years from a recognized Indian or Foreign University /Institute.

(c) Officers in Grade ‘B’ (DR) – DSIM :

As per the RBI Grade B recruitment notification, educational qualification for Officers in Grade ‘B’ (DR) – DSIM is,

Master’s Degree in Statistics/ Mathematical Statistics/ Mathematical Economics/ Econometrics/ Statistics & Informatics from IIT-Kharagpur/ Applied Statistics & Informatics from IIT-Bombay with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade (aggregate of all semesters / years)

OR

Master’s Degree in Mathematics with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/years and a one-year postgraduate diploma in Statistics or related subjects from a reputed Institute

OR

  1. Stat. Degree of Indian Statistical Institute with a minimum of 55% marks (aggregate of all semesters/years)

OR

Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA) jointly offered by ISI Kolkata, IIT Kharagpur, and IIM Calcutta with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/years.

Number of Attempts

According to the  RBI Grade B 2020 Recruitment Notification, General Category candidates can appear 6-times for the Phase-I Exam of this post. However, there are no such restrictions in the case of candidates belonging to the SC/ ST/ OBC/ PWD category.

RBI Grade B 2020 Salary

As given in the RBI Grade B Recruitment 2020 Notification, after the enrolment on the role, the candidate of RBI Grade B Officers will receive as 12-14 Lakh annually. Also, they will receive some emoluments and perks for the post of RBI Grade B. The PayScale for the RBI Grade B Officer is Rs. 35150-1750(9)-50900-EB-1750(2)-54400-2000(4)-62400. This means that the candidates will be having the basic pay of Rs. 35,150/- and get an increment of Rs. 1,750/- up till nine years. After that, they will get into the executive band wherein the basic pay will be of Rs. 50,900/- and get an increment of Rs. 1,750/- for two years and further an increment of Rs. 2000/- for the following 2 years thus ending up with the basic pay of Rs. 62,400/-

Candidates must keep a valid and active email id and contact no. throughout the RBI Grade B Recruitment Process to receive all the updates related to it. The Steps to apply online for the RBI Grade B will comprise of two stages: Registration and then Login. The steps to apply for the RBI Grade B Recruitment Notification 2020 are given below.

  1. Click on the link given above once it is active or directly goes to the official website of RBI which is rbi.org.in.
  2. You will come across separate links for Online applications for Gr B (DR) General and Online applications for DEPR/ DSIM.
  3. For fresh registration, choose the tab “Click here for New Registration” and enter Important details asked.
  4. A Registration Number and Password will be generated by the system.
  5. An Email & SMS is sent to the registered email ID and a Mobile number containing the Registration number and Password.
  6. Log in with the Registration number and Password and fill all the important details asked there.
  7. Upload scanned copy of recent photograph and signature, left-hand thumb impression, and a handwritten declaration.
  8. Then, the candidate is asked to submit the application fee using Debit/Credit Cards, Internet Banking, Cash Cards/Mobile Wallets.
  9. Candidates must obtain and preserve the ‘e-receipt’ as proof of successful fee payment.
  10. Finally, choose “Save and Next” and verify the details in the form before submission.

Documents Required with Admit Card:

  • In addition to RBI Grade B Admit Card, candidates need to present a valid Photo ID proof issued by the GOI or the State Government (original as well as a photocopy) for verification to the exam centre on the date of examination.
  • As per the RBI Grade B recruitment notification, acceptable photo ID proofs are PAN Card/ Passport/ Driving Licence/ Voter’s Card/ Bank Passbook along with a passport size photograph.

RBI Grade B Exam Pattern

As per the RBI Grade B  Recruitment Notification, selection process consists of 3 stages which are as follows :

  1. Phase – I Examination
  2. Phase – II Examination
  3. Interview

The RBI Grade B  Recruitment Notification states that the exam pattern will consist of two phases of online examination naming Prelims and mains exams that is followed by an interview stage. The nature of the questions to be answered by the candidate also varies as Phase-I or Prelims only contains objective type questions. In contrast, Phase-II or mains requires candidates to write explanatory answers as well. Let’s have a look at the exam pattern for both of these stages.

  • The Questions asked will be bilingual (asked in both English & Hindi) except for English Language Section.
  • A total of 200 questions will be asked which will carry 1 mark each. Thus, the total score of the entire Phase-I Exam will be around 200 Marks.
  • There is also Negative Marking for the first round of the selection process of RBI Grade B exam.0.25 marks will be deducted for every wrong question attempted.
  • There will be no deduction in marks if candidates leave any question unanswered or unattended.

Note

  • The Phase-II Exam will consist of Both Subjective & Objective Type of questions.
  • Except the English Section, all the questions asked will be bilingual (available in both English & Hindi)..
  • Just like Prelims Exam, there will be negative marking in this phase of examination as well.0.25 marks will be deducted for every question attempted wrong 
  • No marks will be deducted for unattended questions.

RBI Grade B Interview: The final phase of the recruitment is the interview. Candidates who qualify the first two phases of written examination are called for an interview. The RBI Grade B interview is conducted for 50 marks. As per the RBI Grade B recruitment notification, the final selection of a candidate is based on the marks scored in the phase II exam and interview combined together. The prelims is only qualifying in nature and marks obtained by a candidate in the prelims are not considered while making the final merit list. The minimum aggregate cut-off marks for being shortlisted for the Interview will be decided by the Board in relation to the number of vacancies.

RBI Grade B Result for the Prelims Exam will be released by the Reserve Bank of India soon after the Prelims Exam has been conducted. The marks secured by the candidates in the RBI Grade B Exam in Prelims, Main Exam, and Interview will be available on the Bank’s website only after the declaration of the final result.
