1) Tumble (Verb) – अचानक गिर जाना

Definition: Fall suddenly, clumsily, or headlong.

Synonyms: Hurry, Rush, Scramble

Antonyms: Rise, Soar

Usage: The price of India’s crude basket tumbled almost 30% to below $60 by end-November from $85 in early October.

 

2) Endure (Verb) – सहना

Definition: Suffer (something painful or difficult) patiently.

Synonyms: Undergo, Go Through, Live Through, Experience

Antonyms: Fade, Short-lived

Usage: It foresees the softness in prices enduring through the April-September half of next year.

 

3) Bolster (Verb) — समर्थन या मजबूत करना

Definition: Support or strengthen.

Synonyms: Strengthen, Support, Reinforce

Antonyms: Undermine

Usage: The MPC’s decision to stand pat on rates must also have been bolstered by the findings in the RBI’s November survey of households’ inflation expectations.

Definition: A forecast of the likely outcome of a situation.

Usage: A mass of circumstantial evidence buttresses the prosecutor’s case

 

7) Opportune (Adjective) — समयानुकूल

Definition: (Of a time) especially convenient or appropriate for a particular action or event.

Synonyms: Auspicious, Propitious, Favourable, Advantageous

Antonyms: Disadvantageous, Ill-timed

Usage: He couldn’t have arrived at a less opportune moment.

 

8) Prudence (Noun) – समझदारी

Definition: The quality of being prudent; cautiousness.

Synonyms: Wisdom, Judgement, Good judgement

Antonyms: Folly, Recklessness

Usage: We need to exercise prudence in such important matters.

 

9) Adverse (Adjective) — विपरीत

Definition: Preventing success or development; harmful; unfavourable.

Synonyms: Unfavourable, Disadvantageous, Inauspicious

Antonyms: Favourable, Beneficial, Positive, Friendly

Usage: Taxes are having an adverse effect on production

 

10) Funnel (Verb) – मार्गदर्शन करना

Definition: Guide or channel (something) through or as if through a funnel.

Synonyms: Channel, Guide, Feed, Direct, Convey

Antonyms: Scatter, Splurge

Usage: Some $12.8 billion was funnelled through the Marshall Plan
