Solution:

1. Answer: (1)

Required area = Area of shaded region = area of square ABCD – 4 × (area of sectors)

= 48×48-4(pix24x24/4) =2304-1810.28= 493.72

2. Answer: (1)

In 1 h, The 1^st tap can fill 1/12 of the tank 2^nd tap can fill 1/9 of the tank Together, they can fill 1/12 + 1/9 = 7/36 of the tank

∴Required time = 36/7 h

3. Answer: (3)

Time required to fill the tank with leakage = 6+3/ 4 hr = 27/4 hr

Let leakage can empty the full tank in x hours.

1/ 6 -1/x=4/27

x= 54

∴ Time required to empty the tank = 54 hr

4. Answer: (4)

30 can be written as 5×6(product of consecutive numbers)

Larger number is the answer.

LCM of fractions = LCM of numerators /HCF of denominators

Here, LCM of 4, 8 and 12 = 24

HCF of 5, 15 and 25 = 5

Let the six consecutive numbers be x, x + 1, x + 2, x + 3, x + 4 and x + 5.

According to the question, x + x + 1 + x + 2 + x + 3 + x + 4 + x + 5 = 345

The sum of all the angles of a triangle is 180.  4x+ 6( x –5 )+(x²+15)/4 =180

x = 15 So, the angles are 60^o, 60^o and 60^o, and therefore the triangle is equilateral.
