Downstream speed = 20 kmph

Upstream speed = 10 kmph

Stream speed = (20 – 10)/2 = 5 kmph

Speed of the stream = y

x – y = 20 ——(1)

x – 2y = 40/4

x – 2y = 10 —— (2)
