PM Modi launches Fit India School grading system

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Fit India School grading system in schools across the country.
  • The Fit India School rankings have been divided into three categories — The Fit India Schools, which is the first level of ranking, Fit India School (3 star) and Fit India School (5 star).
  • The level of ranking will depend on how much importance the school gives to inculcating fitness among its students and teachers, besides facilities available for fitness activities.

India to host SCO forum of Young Scientists and Innovators next year

  • India will host the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Forum of Young Scientists and Innovators in 2020.
  • The 5th Meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Member States Heads of Ministries and Departments of Science and Technology and Permanent Working Group on S&T Cooperation concluded in Moscow, Russia.
  • Eight SCO member states’ heads of delegation signed the Protocol of the 5th Meeting of Ministries and Departments of Science and Technology.
  • India will be the host of Council of Heads of Government (Prime Ministers) of SCO Member States in 2020, which will approve the Draft SCO Roadmap on cooperation between research institutions of SCO Member States for the period 2021-2023.

Over 7 crore farmers benefited under PM-KISAN scheme

  • Over seven crore farmers have been benefited under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme.
  • Under this scheme, six thousand rupees per year are being given in three instalments to the farmers.
  • Over one crore 67 lakh farmers in Uttar Pradesh are benefited under the scheme which is the highest among all the all states.

  • Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik inaugurated National Tribal Craft Mela-2019 in Bhubaneswar.
  • The 7-day long 8th National Tribal Crafts Mela has been organised with the objective of promotion and popularisation of traditional tribal arts and crafts.
  • Handloom products, iron and bamboo products, handicraft items, puppets, tribal textiles, and embroidery work, tribal paintings and many more tribal products will be showcased during the fair.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui wins Lesley Ho Asian Film Talent Award for Sacred Games at SIFF

  • The 30th edition of Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF) commenced on November 21. It is set to conclude on December 8.
  • Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui received Lesley Ho Asian Film Talent Award at the Singapore International Film Festival for his Netflix’s Emmy-nominated original series Sacred Games.
  • The actor received the award from a business tycoon from Beijing, Charles Ho.

  • Commercial vehicle major Ashok Leyland has tied up with ICICI Bank for vehicle loans for a period of two years.
  • The agreement will enable both the partners to offer customised financial solution to customers across the country with focus on semi-urban and rural geographies
  • With this MoU, ICICI Bank will be a preferred financier for providing finance to customers buying ALLAshok Leyland vehicles.

8th Edition Of International Tourism Mart Opens At Imphal

  • The 8th International Tourism Mart has been organised at Imphal, Manipur The Theme of 2019 International Tourism Mart is “Sustainable Tourism an engine for Economic Growth and Employment”.
  • It was inaugurated by the Minister of State (I/C) for Culture & Tourism, Shri Prahlad Singh Patel and Chief Minister of Manipur, Shri N. Biren Singh.
  • The event has been organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, in association with the North Eastern States.
  • It is an annual event organised in the North Eastern region with the objective of highlighting the tourism potential of the region in the domestic and international markets.

AIIA signs MoU with Western Sydney University to promote Ayurveda

  • The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) has signed an MoU with Western Sydney University, Australia aimed at promoting and developing guidelines for integrating Ayurveda principles with modern medicine.
  • The memorandum was agreed and exchanged on the occasion of the event ‘India- Australia International Education and Research Workshop’ held at the Ambedkar International Centre.

Singapore signs MOU with South Korea on cybersecurity cooperation

  • Singapore has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with South Korea to enhance cooperation and information-sharing on cybersecurity.
  • The MOU was signed by David Koh, chief executive of the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore, and Kim Seok-hwan, president of the Korea Internet & Security Agency. The MOU was witnessed by Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and South Korean President Moon Jae-in.
  • Singapore has signed similar agreements with New Zealand, Canada, India, Australia, France, the Netherlands, the UK and the United States.
  • The city-state, a trade-reliant nation with a rapidly aging population, is trying to restructure its economy to make it a global centre of innovation. As a hyper-connected financial hub, it’s also been a target for hackers.

Indian Army Organises ‘Epic Run 2019’ To Honour Soldiers And NOK

  • The Indian Army conducted the ‘Epic Run 2019’ in recognition of martyred soldiers and their NOK and to spread awareness about the sacrifices made by the Army.
  • The Indian Army conducted the ‘Epic Run 2019’, which was held at Pedong, West Bengal in recognition of the soldiers and their Next of Kin.
  • This event was held to mark the Indian Army’s initiative of dedicating 2019  as the ‘Year of NOK’ (YoNoK).
  • The event witnessed over 1500 participants. The event was divided into three categories with a ‘2 Km Walk & Run’, for children and senior citizens, ‘5 Km Walk & Run’ for children between 13-17 and a 10 Km Walk & Run which saw a participation of 213 people between ages 18 to 60.

NCC celebrates its 71st Raising Day

  • The National Cadet Corps (NCC), the world’s largest uniformed youth organization, celebrated its 71st Raising Day on Nov 24th.
  • The NCC Raising Day was also celebrated all over the country with the cadets participating in marches, cultural activities and social development programs.

NOMURA’S FOOD VULNERABILITY INDEX (NFVI)

  • According to a new report by Nomura Global Market Research, India is ranked 44 out of 110 countries in Nomura’s Food Vulnerability Index (NFVI).
  • Nomura’s Food Vulnerability Index (NFVI) ranks countries on the basis of their exposure to large swings in food prices.
  • Nomura is an Asia-headquartered financial services group with an integrated global network spanning over 30 countries.

Marathon Man Eliud Kipchoge, Hurdle Heroine Dalilah Muhammad Win Athlete of the Year

  • Eliud Kipchoge, the first man to run a marathon in less than two hours, and 400 metres hurdles world champion Dalilah Muhammad won the World Athlete of the Year awards.
  • Kipchoge, 35, claimed governing body World Athletics’ year-ending prize in Monaco after making history last month when he ran the marathon distance of 42.195 kilometres (26.219 miles) in 1hr 59min 40.2sec.
  • American Muhammad won her award after a magnificent year that saw her set a world record of 52.20 seconds at the US Trials in Iowa in July — breaking a record that had stood since 2003 — before winning gold at the World Championships in Doha with a new world best time of 52.16sec.

India bag 28 medals including 13 gold in U-15 Asian Wrestling C’ships

  • In wrestling, India concluded its campaign at the Under-15 Asian Championships with 28 medals, including 13 gold, 14 silver and a bronze as they won 5 gold on the last day at Taichung, China.
  • 2019 Cadet World Championships bronze medallist Deepak Chahal, the freestyle grapplers captured four gold while one gold came in the Greco-Roman category.
  • While Chahal won the gold in 75kg, Vishal in 62kg, Sagar Jaglan in 68kg and Jatin in 85kg were the others who finished on the top podium.
  • For the first time, India finished on top of the team rankings in freestyle category with 225 points as all 10 wrestlers finished on the podium. Kazakhstan finished second while Japan was third.

Lakshya Sen wins Scottish Open title

  • India’s Lakshya Sen has won the Scottish Open men’s single title, defeating Brazilian Ygor Coelho to seal his fourth title in three months.
  • The 18-year-old Indian started his year with a silver medal at the Polish Open International Challenge in March.
  • Sen went on to win the Belgian International in September, his first title of the year.
  • Lakshya won his first BWF Super 100 title at the Dutch Open, and the SaarLorLux Open in Germany. He will be next seen in action in the Syed Modi International Championship, in Lucknow.

Rafael Nadal clinches sixth Davis Cup title

  • World number one Rafael Nadal has clinched sixth Davis Cup title for Spain after beating Denis Shapovalov of Canada in Madrid.
  • In 2010 Nadal won three majors, but the 33-year-old will likely look back on 2019 as an extraordinary year as he won the French Open and the US Open, made the Australian Open final and also reached the Wimbledon semifinals.

Sangram Dahiya, Varsha Varman win double trap national titles

  • Haryana’s Sangram Dahiya and Varsha Varman of Madhya Pradesh clinched double trap titles, winning gold at the 63rd National Shotgun Shooting Championship in New Delhi
  • In men’s category, Sangram shot 142 out of 150 targets to leave behind former world champion Ankur Mittal, who managed 137 hits over the five rounds of 30 targets each to win a silver.
  • Punjab’s Prithvi Singh Chahal won bronze with a score of 135.
  • Both Sangram and Varsha also won the team gold for their respective States.

Former Madhya Pradesh CM Kailash Joshi Passes away

  • Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kailash Joshi has passed away at the age of 91, after a prolonged illness.
  • Joshi, who was called as the ‘saint of politics’, served as the state’s chief minister from 1977 to 1978. He was MLA for eight terms and also served as member of both the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha.
