- The bounty pool could be up to $11 million if there is a full recovery of stolen assets.

- Up to 25% of recovered funds will be awarded to individuals or teams who help trace, retrieve, identify, and convict those involved in the theft.

India’s Per Capita Vegetable Oil Intake Projected to Reach 12.68 kg by 2034
- According to the OECD-FAO Agricultural Outlook 2025–34, India’s per capita consumption of vegetable oils is expected to reach 12.68 kg per person by 2034.
- India is the world’s second-largest consumer and leading importer of vegetable oil.
- The per capita food consumption growth in India is projected at 2.5% per annum.
Key Highlights :
- The increase in consumption will be supported by the crushing of domestically produced oilseeds and government programmes to boost production.
- Imports of palm oil (mainly from Indonesia and Malaysia) are expected to decline to reduce India’s dependence on imports.
- India’s per capita consumption of vegetable oils rose from 8.53 kg (2012–14) to 9.97 kg (2022–24).
- The global per capita consumption of vegetable oils is projected to reach 15.68 kg per person by 2034, up from 15.05 kg (2022–24) and 13.64 kg (2012–14).
- Food and food preparations account for 52% of vegetable oil usage, and biomass-based feedstock accounts for 18%.
- Non-food use of vegetable oils is expected to increase at 0.5% per annum, mainly in lower-middle and low-income countries.
- Oilseed and product prices are expected to increase slightly in nominal terms during 2025–34.
- Soybean production is expected to increase in India, Russia, Ukraine, and Canada during this period.
- Brazil is the largest soybean producer, with production growth expected at 0.8% per annum due to double cropping with maize.
- The US soybean production growth is projected at 0.5% per annum.

Government Began Structural Consolidation of Regional Rural Banks in FY 2005-06 to Enhance Viability and Achieve Economies of Scale
- Government of India initiated structural consolidation of Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) starting from FY 2005-06 to improve operational viability and benefit from economies of scale.
Key Highlights :
- Phase-I amalgamation (2005-2010): Number of RRBs reduced from 196 to 82 by merging RRBs of the same Sponsor Bank within a state.
- Phase-II amalgamation (2012-2014): Number of RRBs reduced from 82 to 56 by merging RRBs across Sponsor Banks within states with geographically contiguous areas.
- Phase-III amalgamation (2019 onwards): Weaker RRBs were merged with stronger ones, reducing RRBs from 56 to 43 by March 2021.
- NABARD study (2021) on amalgamation impact found:
- Improved viability and financial performance of RRBs.
- Increase in share of profitable and viable RRBs.
- Decline in accumulated losses as a percentage of total assets.
- Enhanced leverage ratio and reserves to capital ratio due to improved profitability and capital infusion.
- Phase-IV amalgamation (2025), based on the principle of ‘One State-One RRB’, further reduced the number of RRBs from 43 to 28 across 26 states and 2 Union Territories, effective from May 1, 2025.

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar Steps Down Due to Health Reasons
- Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned from office citing health concerns and need for medical advice.
- Resignation was addressed to President Droupadi Murmu and took effect immediately under Article 67(a) of the Constitution.
- Dhankhar’s tenure was till 2027, but he resigned on the first day of the Monsoon session of Parliament.
- He is the third Vice President of India to resign before completing term, after V V Giri and R Venkataraman, who resigned to contest Presidential elections.
- Jagdeep Dhankhar, aged 74, took office as the 14th Vice President in August 2022.
- He is a senior advocate and former Governor of West Bengal, known for frequent clashes with the Mamata Banerjee-led government.
- The Vice President of India is the second-highest constitutional office after the President of India.
- The Vice President also serves as the Chairman of Rajya Sabha, the upper house of Parliament.
- The Vice President is elected by an electoral college consisting of members of both houses of Parliament.

Anup Saha Steps Down as Managing Director of Bajaj Finance
- Bajaj Finance shares slipped by 1% on the BSE following the resignation of its newly appointed Managing Director (MD) Anup Kumar Saha within three months of taking charge.
- The share price hit an intraday low of ₹939.9 per share, despite a positive Sensex
- Anup Saha resigned citing personal reasons, effective from July 21, 2025.
- Reports indicate Saha is among the top candidates proposed by IndusInd Bank to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for the role of CEO at IndusInd Bank.
- In response, Bajaj Finance’s Board appointed Rajeev Jain as the new Vice Chairman & Managing Director (VC & MD) until March 31, 2028, adding to his current role as Executive Vice-Chairman.
- Rajeev Jain has over 15 years of experience as CEO of Bajaj Finance and is credited with much of the company’s success.
- Unlike banks, NBFCs (Non-Banking Financial Companies) do not require RBI approval for CEO/MD appointments; it is decided by the Board/Nomination and Remuneration Committee (NRC).
Renault Appoints Stephane Deblaise as New Chief Executive Officer for India
- Renault Group appointed Stephane Deblaise as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Renault Group in India, effective September 1, 2025.
- Deblaise will be responsible for defining and executing Renault’s strategy in India, with all Renault Group entities in the country reporting to him.

IAS Officer Sanjay Kaul Assumes Role as MD & CEO of GIFT City
- Sanjay Kaul, senior IAS officer of Kerala cadre, took charge as Managing Director (MD) and Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) on July 21, 2025.
- GIFT City is India’s first International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) and a flagship Smart City project located in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
- Sanjay Kaul succeeds Tapan Ray, a retired IAS officer who served as MD and Group CEO since 2019 and was instrumental in steering GIFT City.

- Kaul is a 2001-batch IAS officer and a native of Gujarat with over two decades of experience in public policy, infrastructure development, technology, and finance.
- Prior to this appointment, he was Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

Indian Navy Launches Final Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft ‘Yard 3034 Ajay’ Built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers
- The Indian Navy launched its eighth and final Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW SWC) named Yard 3034 Ajay, developed by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE).
- The vessel enhances the Navy’s capabilities in undersea surveillance, anti-submarine warfare, and mine-laying operations.
- Equipped with advanced technology including hull-mounted sonar, low-frequency variable depth sonar (LFVDS), cutting-edge torpedoes, NSG-30 guns, and 12.7 mm SRCG.
- Powered by diesel engines and uses waterjet propulsion for movement.
- Over 80% indigenous components, showcasing India’s ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative in shipbuilding.
- The launch ceremony was attended by Vice-Admiral Kiran Deshmukh (Chief of Materiel, COM) and other dignitaries; his wife Priya Deshmukh performed the ship’s launch.
- The original INS Ajay, inducted in 1961 as India’s first locally built warship by GRSE, laid the foundation for India’s self-reliant shipbuilding program.
- The first ship in this ASW SWC series, INS Arnala, was inducted on June 18, 2025.
- The second ship, Androth, has successfully completed trials and is ready for handover.

(i) Access Point: Available on the Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH) platform and WhatsApp.

- The GSLV-F16 will place NISAR into a 743 km Sun-synchronous orbit with an inclination of 98.4 degrees.
- NISAR will scan the Earth every 12 days, providing high-resolution, all-weather, day-and-night data.
- The satellite will observe Earth with a swathe width of 242 km and high spatial resolution using SweepSAR technology for the first time.
- NISAR weighs 2,392 kg and is the first Earth observation satellite to use dual frequency Synthetic Aperture Radar — NASA’s L-band and ISRO’s S-band — both operating with NASA’s 12m unfurlable mesh reflector antenna integrated with ISRO’s modified I3K satellite bus.
- The satellite can detect small changes in the Earth’s surface, including ground deformation, ice sheet movement, and vegetation dynamics.
- The mission has been in development for over a decade and is a major collaboration between NASA and ISRO.
