  • Jindal Steel & Power (JSP) will install India’s first Rail Wheelset manufacturing plant at its Raigarh facility in Chhattisgarh, the company said in a statement on Friday. JSP has collaborated with GIFLO Steel – Hungary for this ambitious project.
  • The MoU for technology collaboration has been signed between GIFLO Steel – Hungary and Jindal Steel at the “India Hungary Business Forum” organized by the Embassy of Hungary along with FICCI in the national capital on 27 May 2022
  • The plant will have an initial capacity of 25,000 Wheelsets per year. Jindal Steel will also install a Rail forging unit for Asymmetric Rails which are used in Rail track switches, especially for high-speed train tracks.
  • Rail wheelset manufacturing plant will help Indian Railways to speed up the modernization of its Rail infrastructure; by making available world-class rail wheels to realize the vision of “Gati Shakti” by the Government of India.

  • Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) on Wednesday issued a whitepaper on the RFID-enabled baggage tag “BAGG TRAX” at Delhi Airport arrivals. Passengers arriving at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi will soon be getting RFID-enabled baggage tags to track their baggage.
  • DIAL mentioned that the Delhi Airport is the first Indian airport to introduce the facility. IGI airport has introduced Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID)-enabled personalized baggage tag “BAGG TRAX”, a first-of-its-kind facility in the country that will share details in real-time about when and on which belt a passenger`s luggage is arriving. The unique BAGG TRAX tags will soon be commercially launched for flyers at Delhi airport.
  • Presently, as part of the pilot project, BAGG TRAX tags are given to select frequent flyers at Terminal 3 only. Once commercially launched, flyers can buy it at the Departures, it read. It is yet another passenger-friendly initiative by DIAL that will significantly enhance the passenger experience at the airport.

  • The Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, is the only institute to make the top-50 list with 42 ranks. As compared to last year’s positions, all the Indian institutes in top-100 have slipped down.

  • Meanwhile, Japan is the most-represented nation again this year, with 118 institutions, up from 116 last year.
  • China is home to the continent’s top two universities for the third consecutive year, with Tsinghua and Peking universities holding on to first and second place, respectively.
  • Elsewhere, a Palestinian university is ranked for the first time and Saudi Arabia has increased its representation in the top 100 from four to six institutions.
