  • The provisioning norms for NBFC-Upper Layer (NBFC-UL) will be effective from October 1, 2022.
  • For individual housing loans and loans to Small and Micro Enterprises (SMEs), NBFC-UL is required to hold provisions in respect of standard assets at the rate of 0.25%.
  • In the case of housing loans extended at teaser rates, the rate of provisioning will be 2%.
  • As per RBI, the provisioning will be 0.75% and 1% for Commercial Real Estate – Residential Housing (CRE – RH) and Commercial Real Estate (CRE) Sector (other than CRE-RH) sectors, respectively.
  • In October 2021, RBI issued a framework for scale-based regulation for NBFCs.
  • RBI has now specified rates of provision for outstanding loans extended by ‘NBFC-Upper Layer’.

  • On the occasion of World Environment Day on 5 June, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang declared Blue Duke the state butterfly.
  • In a recent online poll conducted by the Forest Department, the Blue Duke, one of the 720 species of butterflies found in Sikkim, has been chosen as the state butterfly with 57% of the vote.
  • The Blue Duke, scientifically known as Bassarona Durga, is only found in Sikkim and the eastern Himalayas. It was discovered in 1858 in the state.
  • The Blue Duke is a protected species in the Himalayas, listed in Schedule 2 of the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972.
  • In the online polls, Krishna Peacock (Papilio Krishna) received 43% of the votes and secured the second position.

  • The new butterfly species is called Zographetus dzonguensis and is also known as the chocolate-border flutter.

  • The Agni-V brings the northernmost part of China within its strike envelope. The shorter range Agni missiles, in turn, are designed for Pakistan.

  • The report further elaborates that the increase will be primarily driven by economic and population growth, with significant increases expected from the developing nations of the sub-African and Asian regions.
  • The report observes that even with radical action to curb demand and improve efficiencies, plastic production would nearly double in the next 40 years or less.
