1) Answer: E

International Mountain Day 2022 is observed on the 11th of December 2022.

The International Mountain Day 2022 theme set by the UN this year is “Women Move Mountains”.

Increasing climate variability, resulted in a lack of mountain agriculture, so a lot of men migrated elsewhere in search of alternative livelihoods.

Women have therefore taken on many tasks formerly done by men, yet mountain women are often invisible due to a lack of decision-making power and unequal access to resources.

In the United States, there was a tradition where students skip classes and visit the nearby mountains that surround them for recreation.

This is a kind of celebration in the United States.

The United Nations General Assembly declared the International Year of Mountains in 2002.

The U.N. establishes December 11 as International Mountain Day each year for the protection and sustainability of mountains.

Mountain Day is established and celebrated in Japan as a national holiday for people.

Universal Health Coverage Day was originally promoted by the World Health Organization.

The World Health Organization is part of the United Nations and is responsible for international public health.

In December 2012, the United Nations General Assembly approved a resolution demanding countries to fast-forward universal healthcare progression.

The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has unanimously adopted a resolution to develop an international tax cooperation framework or instrument based on a UN intergovernmental process.

Nigeria submitted this resolution on behalf of a consortium of 54 African countries.

About UNGA resolution:

With this mechanism, emerging countries in Africa and Asia are expected to have a greater say in the formulation of global tax regulations.

The proposed UN framework on global tax cooperation will put an end to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation & Development’s 60-year role as the regulator of taxation across the world.

These rules were agreed upon in 2021 by 137 countries and jurisdictions under the OECD/G20 Inclusive Framework on BEPS.

Base erosion and profit shifting (BEPS) refers to corporate tax planning strategies used by multinationals to shift profits from higher-tax jurisdictions to lower/no-tax jurisdictions, thus eroding the tax base of the higher-tax jurisdictions.

Capital markets regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has issued a uniform format for reporting over-the-counter (OTC) trades in listed non-convertible securities (NCS)

The new guideline would come into force from January 1, 2023.

The development comes after Sebi observed that information on OTC trades in listed non-convertible securities provided to the stock exchanges by the investors is incomplete and inaccurate.

About OTC:

OTC trades are generally trades executed between two market entities without others being aware of the price at which the transaction was effected.

Under the format, information about deal type whether brokered or direct – ISIN, listed or unlisted security, issuer name, coupon rate, issue description, traded price, traded yield, trade date and time, settlement date, settlement status, and reported trade executed on RFQ (Request For Quote) platform will have to be disclosed.
