  • It was founded in 1952.
  • It is a statutory body under the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
  • It was set up under the ESI Act 1948 for the implementation of the ESI scheme.
  • Mukhmeet S Bhatia is the Director-General of Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC).

  • A new air squadron was created in the Indian Coast Guard in Chennai on 20 June 2022.
  • It is named 840 squadrons and Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Mark-III aircraft inducted into it.
  • The aircraft was received in presence of Inspector General AP Badola, Commander of the eastern Coast Guard Region.
  • This is the first such aircraft to be deployed by the defense force in the eastern region.
  • Three more Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) aircraft will be added to the inventory of the new Squadron (840 squadrons) shortly.
  • The aircraft is having Beyond the Visual Range detection. It is an indigenous aircraft designed and developed by the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited.
