12) Answer: A

The note in circulation (NiC), according to Finance Minister Smt Nirmala Sitharaman, increased by 7.98% approximately 8% annually to reach Rs 31.92 lakh crore.

According to her, the demand for money is influenced by several macroeconomic variables, such as economic growth and interest rate levels.

The amount of money in circulation has increased to a record high of Rs 32 lakh crore six years after demonetisation, demonstrating that cash is still Indians’ preferred method of payment.

From Rs 17 lakh crore on November 4, 2016, it has climbed by a staggering 72% compared to the pre-demonetisation period.

On November 8, 2016, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the demonetisation (of the Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes that were no longer accepted as legal tender) with the intention of, among other things, limiting the flow of illegal money into the economy.

When comparing absolute numbers, it’s crucial to compare them to the GDP, which is the primary metric for gauging the amount of money in circulation in relation to economic expansion.

A quick calculation reveals that the amount of cash in circulation now is 13% of GDP, down from 14% last year.

After the Covid-19 pandemic broke out, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) injected money into the system, bringing the figure down to 13% in 2020.

In 2016, the amount of money in circulation as a percentage of GDP was 12%.

Digital payments have increased together with the amount of cash in circulation.

IPL’s valuation exceeds $10 billion: The Indian Premier League (IPL), whose whole market value is more than $10 billion, has developed into a decacorn.

According to a D and P Advisory assessment released, the league is currently valued at $10.9 billion.

Notably, it has increased by an astonishing 75% since 2020.

Profitable collaborations with media sector titans have benefited IPL’s growth.

A decacorn is a firm that is valued at above $10.0 billion.

The IPL has accomplished the feat in less than 15 years since its inception.

The inaugural ICC T20 World Cup was held in 2008, with India emerging victorious months earlier.

Since then, the IPL has become significantly stronger thanks to the participation of well-known athletes from around the globe.

In a report titled “Beyond 22 Yards,” the D and P Advisory claimed that the IPL reached an important milestone after selling its media rights for the years 2023 to 2027.

The league sold its media rights for $6.2 billion, representing a three-fourth increase in revenue over the previous cycle.

For the first time, the rights were distributed among many broadcasters.

Contrarily, the IPL is the second-largest sports league in the world in terms of revenue from broadcasting fees for each game.

The estimated revenue from each game’s telecast is $12 million.

Only the National Football Competition (NFL) generates more money each game ($17 million) than the Indian T20 league.

Notably, the number of IPL games will gradually increase in the next years.
