For the first time in the country, ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company Limited (ICICI Lombard) has launched ‘Anywhere Cashless’ feature for health insurance policyholders to avail cashless facilities at any hospital, even if not part of ICICI Lombard’s current network of hospitals.

The feature will be subject to the hospital’s acceptance of the cashless facility.

Initially launched as a pilot, the facility can now be availed through the ‘IL TakeCare’ application across India, wherein customers will not have to bear any out-of-pocket expenses.

It provides a hassle-free experience through all aspects of hospitalisation from admission to discharge.

ICICI Lombard has issued over 29.3 million policies, settled 2.3 million claims and has a gross written premium of Rs 18,562 crore as of March 2022.

YES Bank has issued its first electronic-Bank Guarantee (e-BG) in partnership with National E-Governance Services Limited (NeSL).

Key Highlights :

The API integration with the Digital Document Execution (DDE) platform of NeSL has enabled complete digitisation of the existing paper-based process for issuance and maintenance of Bank Guarantee (BG).

This includes digital stamping and signing, which significantly reduces the issuance turnaround time (TAT).

The NeSL portal will manage the entire lifecycle of the bank guarantee including issuance, amendment, invocation and cancellation, enabling trade finance stakeholders to access the documents from this secure repository.

Jammu and Kashmir Bank (J&K Bank) has signed a corporate agency agreement with Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance Company to sell life insurance products to its customers, with effect from April 1, 2023.

General Manager & Vertical Head (Cross Selling) Mr Narjay Gupta signed the agreement on representing J&K Bank, while, as, Chief Distribution Officer (Institutional Business) Mr Dheeraj Sehgal put in his signatures on behalf of Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance Company.

Geojit Financial Services, a leading investment services company, has entered into an agreement with ESAF Small Finance Bank (ESAF SFB) to offer a special 3-in-1 bundled account to the ESAF SFB customers.

Under this one-of-its-kind 3-in-1 bundled account service, ESAF SFB savings account holders can open a Geojit demat account and trading account for free.

The 3-in-1 bundled account comes with benefits such as zero demat account opening charges, flexible brokerage plans, AMC waiver till March 2024, no subscription charges on the trading account and an end-to-end digital account opening facility.

South Indian Bank is associated with the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) for direct tax collections from retail and corporate taxpayers.

The payment facility will allow taxpayers to remit Direct Taxes under ‘Over the Counter Mode’.

The bank’s customers can make payments via ‘Over the Counter’ as well as ‘Internet Banking’ modes.

Government has identified 156 critical infrastructure gap projects for intervention under the PM Gati Shakti initiative.

These projects are for movement of bulk commodities such as coal, cement, fertilizers and foodgrains.

66 major infrastructure projects costing 5 lakh crore have been evaluated thus far.

44 Network Planning Group meetings were held at the central level.

The Network Planning Group (NPG) is constituted under the PM Gati Shakti initiative.

The ‘Statue of Knowledge’ installation dedicated to Ambedkar was approved by Govt.

The construction of a 75-foot-tall “Statue of Knowledge” dedicated to Dr. B. R. Ambedkar in the city of Latur has received approval from the Maharashtra government.

The state government issued an order regarding the beautification of the statue and Ambedkar Park in the city.

Rs 10 crore has been sanctioned for this entire project.

Last year, a 75-foot replica of Ambedkar’s statue was installed, and some organisations have been demanding that a permanent statue be installed in the city.

One World TB Summit addressed by PM Narendra Modi in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.

On the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day, the Prime Minister addressed the ‘One World TB Summit’.

The summit was organized by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) and the Stop TB Partnership.

The Stop TB Partnership (founded in 2001) is a United Nations-led organization that provides a voice for people, communities and countries affected by TB.

During the event, the Prime Minister launched various initiatives, including the TB-free Panchayat Initiative, the official pan-India launch of a Brief TB Preventive Treatment (TPT), and the release of the India Annual TB Report 2023.

In March 2018, during the ‘End TB Summit’ held in New Delhi, the Prime Minister called upon India to achieve the SDG targets related to TB by 2025, five years ahead of schedule.

Rajasthan becomes the first state in India to pass the ‘Right to Health (RTH) Bill’ in the Assembly.

About RTH Bill :

The RTH bill gives every state resident a right to avail of free Out Patient Department (OPD) services and In Patient Department (IPD) services at all public healthcare facilities.

This would be provided free of cost at select private facilities.

Under this bill, private hospitals will not be able to charge emergency patients and will be compensated by the state.

CoinDCX has become a Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU)-registered reporting entity under Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) norms.

This would lead to increased accountability and implementation of best practices by the Virtual Digital Assets (VDA) industry

The government had mandated that Virtual Digital Assets (VDA) service providers must comply with several regulatory requirements.

These requirements include Know Your Customer (KYC) norms, record-keeping, reporting of suspicious transactions, and appointment of a compliance officer.

No organisation should be permitted to establish more than six Community Radio Stations throughout the country.

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has made this recommendation recently.

TRAI has also recommended that if any organisation is seeking to set up many stations, it should submit an undertaking confirming that programs will be made locally.

The programs should also not be sent from other Community Radio Stations.

Another recommendation made by TRAI is that the initial period of permission should be increased from 5 years to 10 years, at a time.

According to the report, titled “Celebrity Brand Valuation Report 2022: Beyond the Mainstream” Actor Ranveer Singh has become the ‘Most valued celebrity of 2022’,

He with a brand value of $181.7 million surpassed cricketer Virat Kohli.

Kohli is in second position with a brand value of $176.9 million.

Actor Akshay Kumar is in the third position with a brand value of $153.6 million.

Alia Bhatt retained the fourth position and is the most valued female celebrity in India.

Deepika Padukone with a brand valuation of $82.9 million is on the fifth spot.

The overall brand value of the top 25 celebrities in 2022 is estimated at $1.6 billion.

For the first time, South Indian stars Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna got a place in the top 25 celebrities of India.

Air Force Technical College and IISc Bangalore have signed MoU.

The MoU will promote academic cooperation and research in defence-related areas.

It will enhance the scientific understanding of adopted defence technologies.

The MoU was signed by Air Commodore Ratnesh Gupta from the Technical College and Captain Sridhar Warrier from the Indian Institute of Science.

The partnership will also allow college Trainee Officers to use IISc libraries.

The Board of Directors of CEAT Ltd, an RPG Group company, has appointed Mr Anant Goenka as the Vice Chairman of the tyre major.

The appointment will come into effect from April 1, 2023.

Meanwhile, Mr Anant Goenka has resigned as the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of CEAT Tyres, with effect from March 31, 2023.

CEAT has appointed current Chief Operating Officer (COO) Mr Arnab Banerjee as the MD & CEO of CEAT Tyres for a tenure of 2 years starting April 1, 2023.

The Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB), the headhunter for directors of state-owned banks and financial institutions, has selected Mr Siddhartha Mohanty as the new chairman of the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC).

As per the guidelines, the chairman is selected from the 4 managing directors (MDs) of the company.

Currently, Mr Siddhartha Mohanty, the managing director of LIC.

The final decision on the FSIB recommendation will be taken by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) headed by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

National women’s hockey team midfielder Salima Tete was appointed as the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) Athletes Ambassador from India for a term of 2 years.

Tete accepted the certificate and the position during the AHF Congress in Mungyeong, South Korea.

As the AHF Athletes Ambassador, Tete, along with the other selected athletes from Asia, will play a leadership role in the international representation, development, and advocacy of athletes.

She will also be working towards promoting awareness about athletes’ rights and welfare from the region.

The Ministry of Defence (MoD), signed a contract with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Hyderabad for the procurement of two Integrated Electronic Warfare Systems ‘Project Himshakti’ at an overall cost of approximately Rs 3,000 crore.

The project is under the Buy {Indian – IDMM (Indigenously Designed Developed and Manufactured)} category comprising contemporary and niche technologies.

About Project Himshakti :

‘Project Himshakti’ will encourage the participation of Indian Electronics and associated industries, including Micro Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), which are sub-vendors of BEL.

It will generate employment of approximately three lakh man-days over a period of 2 years.

The project is a significant leap forward in developing indigenous capabilities making the country ‘Atma Nirbhar’, in consonance with the Make-in-India initiative of the Government.

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launched the LVM3(Launch Vehicle Mark III)-M3/OneWeb India-2 mission with all 36 satellites deployed into intended orbits.

The mission launch took place from the second launch pad at the iconic Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota (SDSC-SHAR) spaceport off the Andhra Pradesh coast.

OneWeb is backed by Bharti Enterprises.

India won titles in both the men’s and women’s section of the Asian Kho-Kho Championship in Tamulpur, Assam.

In the women’s section, India beat Nepal by innings and 33 points.

In the men’s section too, India won the title by defeating Nepal by innings and six points.

India has remained unbeaten in both categories in the championship.

A total of 16 teams (men and women) participated in the event.

The participating countries were Bangladesh, Bhutan, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nepal, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka and host India.

Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly Biswajit Daimary and Minister U G Brahma distributed the prizes to the winners.

Rani Rampal becomes the first women’s hockey player to have a stadium named after.

The Modern Coach Factory, Raebareli has renamed the hockey stadium as ‘Rani’s Girls Hockey Turf’.

Earlier this year, Rani Rampal made a comeback to the Indian team during the tour of South Africa.

Rani Rampal is the former captain of the Indian women’s hockey team.

Under his leadership, the team reached the final of hockey tournament at the Tokyo Olympics.
