The Central Board of Direct Taxes -CBDT has constituted a five-member special cell to address grievances of start-ups with relation to angel tax and other tax-related issues

The ‘startup cell’ will be headed by the member (Income Tax and Computerisation) of the board.

The cell will work towards redressal of grievances and mitigate tax-related issues in case of start-up entities with respect to the administration of Income-tax Act,1961.

Start-up entities can approach the cell for the speedy resolution of their grievances.

The three-day expo is being organised by the Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA).

Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry is organising this bi-annual event.

India, the second largest fish producer in the world with a production of 13.70 million tonnes during 2018-19, earns 10 per cent of its total exports from fisheries.

Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced amalgamation of 10 public sector banks into four big banks.  After the amalgamation, total number of Public Sector Banks in the country will come down to 12 from 27 banks in 2017. Merger of Punjab National Bank (PNB), Oriental Bank of Commerce(OBC) and United Bank with business of ₹7.95 trillion to make India’s second-largest bank & and 2nd largest branch network in India

The other merger will be between Canara Bank and Syndicate Bank, which will make the fourth-largest bank, with ₹15.2 trillion business. Also, Union Bank will be merged with Andhra Bank and Corporation Bank to build India’s fifth-largest public sector bank with ₹14.59 trillion in business. Indian Bank will be merged with Allahabad Bank to make India’s seventh-largest PSB with a business of ₹8.08 trillion

Apart from this the government announced Rs 55,250 crore upfront capital infusion in the PSBs.

The RBI has announced that the timeline for conversion of minimum KYC detail for prepaid payment instruments (PPIs) to full KYC compliant PPIs has been extended from 18 months to 24 months.

The notification says that this timeline will not be extended any further.

For mimium KYC complaint, e-wallet service providers asks for user’s mobile number and any one government identification number to authenticate the account.

However, full KYC requires a more detailed verification procedure. Normally, PAN card and proof of address is among the pre-requisites for full KYC

The amount loaded in such PPIs during any month shall not exceed Rs 10,000 and the total amount loaded during the financial year shall not exceed Rs 1,00,000

Drinking water contamination is a major problem in Assam. This “chemical-free” treatment technique might be useful to the citizens in rural and urban areas of the state.

Mastercard, RBL Bank and Samsung India have announced the launch of Samsung Pay for RBL Bank’s credit card holders.

The partnership will allow RBL Bank Mastercard credit card holders to make contactless mobile payments using their Samsung Pay-enabled phones.

These payments can be made via any PoS (Point of Sale) machine where a card can be dipped, swiped or tapped, both in India and abroad

Mastercard Digital Enablement Service (MDES) allows Mastercard credit and debit cardholders to tokenise their cards and pay using their mobile phones, anytime and anywhere.

Aswatha Narayana, a 25-year-old electronics engineer from Odisha became the first-ever gold medallist from India in the prestigious World Skill Competition at Kazan, Russia

Narayana completed his graduation in electronics and instrumentation engineering from CV Raman Engineering College in Bhubaneswar. This gold medal is the first for India in the history of the tournament.

Apart from Aswatha, the other Indians who won medals in the competition are Pranav Nutalapati, Sanjoy Pramanik and Shweta Ratanpura.

Pranav Nutalapati won silver medal in web technologies, Sanjoy Pramanik and Shweta Ratanpura won bronze medals in Jewellery and graphic design technology respectively.

World skill international competition was established in the year 1950. India started participating in the tournament from 2007.

This year, the competition had 47 competitors in 44 skill categories.
