World Ranger Day is marked every year on 31 July to commemorate rangers who were killed or injured while they were in the line of duty and to celebrate the work that they do to protect the natural treasures and cultural heritage of the planet.

The first World Ranger Day was celebrated in 2007 on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the International Ranger Federation (IRF). This organization was established in 1992.  Rangers mostly work with other volunteers and staff members to maintain bridges, stiles, footpaths, and gates. They are the link between the national park authority and local people or visitors.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched India’s first international bullion exchange in Gandhinagar. He also laid the foundation stone of the Headquarters Building of the International Financial Services Centres Authority, in Gandhinagar.

The opening of the international bullion exchange is aimed to standardize gold pricing in India. It further seeks to it easier for small bullion dealers and jewelers to trade. Currently, there are nominated banks and agencies that have been approved by the central bank to conduct trade or import gold and sell it to dealers.

DSF, as a part of its mission to create a value-based social structure, has taken up the cause of supporting senior artists in cooperation with the Indian Arts & Cultural Society. Homegrown fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) brand Parle has managed to remain the most chosen brand for the tenth year in a row among the segment in India in 2021, revealed the latest Kantar India’s annual Brand Footprint report.

The report has ranked these brands based on Consumer Reach Points (CRPs), which is measured based on the actual purchase made by consumers and the frequency at which these purchases are made in a calendar year. The brand reported a 14 percent growth in CRP against the last year’s rankings and the CRP of Amul grew 9 percent while that of Britannia increased 14 percent in the current rankings compared to the year-ago period.

Dozens of people have evacuated two towns on Japan’s main southern island of Kyushu where a volcano spewed ash and large rocks into the nighttime sky. Large rocks fell as far as 2.5 kilometers (1.5 miles) from the Sakurajima volcano in the southern prefecture of Kagoshima.

Japan’s Meteorological Agency raised the eruption alert to the highest level of five and advised 51 residents in two towns facing the volcano to leave their homes. Sakurajima on the main southern island of Kyushu is one of Japan’s most active volcanos and has erupted repeatedly. Sakurajima is about 1,000 kilometers (600 miles) southwest of Tokyo.

Maharashtra’s Sanket Sargar scripted history by becoming the first athlete from India to win a medal at Commonwealth Games 2022. The 21-year-old won the silver medal in the men’s 55kg weightlifting event in Birmingham.

Sanket Sargar won a silver medal in the men’s 55kg event with a total of 248kg (113kg in snatch, 135 in clean and jerk) to finish behind Malaysia’s Aniq Mohamad, who took gold with a total of 249 kg (107kg in snatch, 142kg in clean and jerk). National champion Sanket Sargar, who was Khelo India Youth Games and the Khelo India University Games in 2020.

This rare pink diamond, weighing 34 grams, is thought to be the largest discovered in the last 300 years. The 170-carat stone has been named the “Lulo Rose”, after the mine in Angola where it was found The Lulo Rose is a type 2a diamond, meaning it has few or no impurities.

It is the fifth largest diamond recovered from the Lulo mine – a joint venture between Australia’s Lucapa Diamond Company and the Angolan government. The largest known pink diamond is the Daria-i-Noor, discovered in India, which experts believe was cut from an even larger stone.

The Indian Vegetable Oil Producers’ Association (IVPA) and the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to further cooperation between the two organizations to promote the use of palm oil.

The MoU is expected to expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest, promote the development and use of Malaysian palm oil and MSPO-certified palm oil and help educate Indian consumers on the nutritional and health benefits of palm oil and improve overall understanding of palm oil and its applications while elucidating its strengths and benefits.

On the occasion of ‘Hareli Tihaar’, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel flagged off Mukhyamantri Mahtari Nyay Rath from his Raipur-based residence. Under this initiative of the Chhattisgarh Women Commission for women empowerment, Mukhyamantri Mahtari Nyay Rath Yatra will go from village to village in all the districts to create mass awareness about the legal provisions and constitutional rights of women.

Each Mahatari Nyay Rath will have two advocates, who will listen to the grievances of women and counsel them. Women will also be able to submit their applications to State Women Commission through Nyay Rath. National award-winning short films in Chhattisgarhi and Hindi, based on various laws, will be screened on large LED screens during the Rath Yatra.

Bandhan Bank announced the opening of its first currency chest in Deedargunj in Bihar capital Patna. This will help the private lender manage cash for its branches and ATMs there. This currency chest will also help its customers, micro, small, medium enterprises, and small traders with the supply of currency notes to the bank branches and the ATMs.

 The Kolkata-headquartered bank plans to open more than 530 new branches across the country in the current financial year. The new branches will mainly be in the north, west, and south of India. The lender currently has a customer base of more than 2.69 crores.

The Reserve Bank has imposed several restrictions, including on fund withdrawals, on two Uttar Pradesh-based cooperative banks given their deteriorating financial position. The two lenders are Lucknow Urban Co-operative Bank and Urban Co-operative Bank Limited, Sitapur. The restrictions under the Banking Regulation Act will remain in force for six months.

Customers of Lucknow Urban Co-operative Bank will not able to withdraw more than Rs 30,000 and the withdrawal limit in the case of Urban Co-operative Bank is Rs 50,000 per customer.

Aditya Birla Health Insurance Co. Limited (ABHICL), the health insurance subsidiary of Aditya Birla Capital Limited (ABCL), a significant non-bank financial services conglomerate, has launched ‘OPD Add-on’ for customers to address their health & wellness needs.

The OPD Add-on cover aims at solving customer problems by providing hassle-free physical and virtual consultation, which leads to quicker treatment. It also offers a range of special consultations such as Gynaecology, Orthopaedic, Paediatric, Ophthalmologist, Physiotherapist, and Nutritionist, referred or prescribed by a General Practitioner, about any illness or injury.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has allowed another window for payment aggregators (PAs) existing as of March 2020 to apply to the central bank for a license. PAs could now apply for a license by September 30, 2022, and should have a minimum net worth of Rs 15 crore as of March 31, 2022.

Payment aggregators are entities that facilitate e-commerce sites and merchants to accept various payment instruments from customers for the completion of their payments without the need for merchants to create separate payment integration systems of their own.

The Centre appointed Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer Pranay Kumar Verma as the next High Commissioner of India to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. Verma, a 1994-batch IFS officer, is currently serving as Ambassador of India to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and is replacing Vikram Doraiswami for the Bangladesh High Commission post.

Outgoing envoy Doraiswami, a foreign service officer of the 1992 batch, was appointed as India’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh in the year 2020. He is expected to join a new assignment in London. Meanwhile, Mustafizur Rahman became the new High Commissioner of Bangladesh to India.

The Indian Navy received two MH-60 R multirole helicopters from the United States at Cochin International Airport and the third helicopter is scheduled to be delivered in August this year, while the delivery of all 24 MH 60R helicopters will be completed by 2025.

The MH-60R is the most advanced marine multi-mission helicopter currently in use. The induction of state-of-the-art mission-capable platforms will significantly boost the integral Anti-submarine warfare capability of the Indian Navy. MH-60R helicopter manufactured by Lockheed Martin Corporation is an all-weather helicopter designed to support multiple missions with state-of-the-art avionics and sensors.

The Indus International School in Hyderabad has introduced humanoid robots to teach students and also to assist teachers in teaching. These robots, made with the help of artificial intelligence, will clarify the doubts of the students. 

The school management demonstrated the performance of Eagle robots and will teach lessons to the students from fifth to 11th class. They can teach lessons in more than 30 languages and also can clarify students’ doubts. Students can connect with the assessment and content of the robot teachers through mobiles and laptops.
