The Sadbhavana Diwas or Harmony Day is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary (August 20) of Rajiv Gandhi. ‘Champions of Change’ Initiative Organised by NITI Aayog
PM Narendra Modi addressed a gathering of young entrepreneurs and CEOs startups at an event organised by NITI Aayog. The event called ‘Champions of Change’ was organised by India’s policy think-tank, was aimed at bringing together young businessmen at a place and share ideas. The “Champions of Change” initiative is one effort to bring together diverse strengths for the benefit of the nation and society.

40 percent reservation for girls at planned Navodaya schools: Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi
The government has decided to offer 40 per cent reservation for girls at 100 Navodaya-type schools. The Minister of State for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said the government is mulling to open 100 Navodaya-type schools in minority concentrated areas of the country.

Italy to host fall G-7 interior Ministers summit on security

RBI will shortly issue Rs 50 denomination banknotes in the Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series
The Reserve Bank of India will shortly issue Rs 50 denomination banknotes in the Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series signed by Governor of RBI Dr. Urjit Patel. The base colour of the note is fluorescent blue. The new Rs 50 banknote has a motif of Hampi with a chariot, depicting the country’s cultural heritage, and the Swachh Bharat logo with slogan on the reverse. All the banknotes in the denomination of Rs 50 issued by the Reserve Bank in the earlier series will continue to be legal tender.

Aadhar must for subsidised farm loans: RBI
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has made Aadhar linkage mandatory for farmers who wish to avail short-term crop loans in 2017-18. Under Interest Subvention Scheme, the banks are advised to make Aadhar linkage mandatory for availing short-term crop loans in 2017-18. RBI has defined that farmers can avail of short-term crop loans of up to Rs 3 lakh at the subsidised interest rate of 7% that could go down to 4% on prompt repayment.
Karur Vysya Bank inaugurates AADHAAR enrolment centre in Chennai
Private sector Karur Vysya Bank has unveiled the Aadhaar Enrolment Centre in Chennai. The Unique Identification Authority of India had advised commercial banks to provide Aadhaar enrolment and updation facility at various branches. KVB is the first private sector bank to provide Aadhaar Enrolment Centre service in the country.

GeM and CII sign MoU to establish GeMSamvad
A MoU was signed between Government eMarketplace (GeM) special-purpose vehicle SPV and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), in the presence of Ms. Nirmala Sitharaman, Commerce & Industry Minister at Udyog Bhawan, New Delhi. This MoU between GeM and CII is aimed at establishing GeM Samvaad – a participative and collaborative approach with the industry for promoting Indian industry and entrepreneurship.
