National Education Day

  • National Education Day or Rashtriya Shiksha Diwas is celebrated every year on November 11.
  • This day is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the first Education Minister of Independent India.

Public Service Broadcasting Day being observed

  • Public Service Broadcasting Day is being observed. The day is celebrated every year to commemorate the only visit of Mahatma Gandhi to the studio of All India Radio, Delhi in 1947.

World Pneumonia Day

  • World Pneumonia Day is observed on 12 November each year. In 2020, the theme for World Pneumonia Day is “Every Breath Counts”

World Kindness Day

  • World Kindness Day is an international observance on 13 November. Thetheme is Kindness: The World We Make – Inspire Kindness.

World Diabetes Day

  • World Diabetes Day is every year on November 14, first created in 1991 by the International Diabetes Foundation and the World Health Organization.The theme for World Diabetes Day 2020 is The Nurse and Diabetes.

National Children’s Day

  • Children’s Day in India is celebrated on 14 November every year as a tribute to India’s First Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. The day aims at increasing the awareness of the rights, care and education of children.

National Press Day

  • The day, observed on 16th November every year, is symbolic of a free and responsible press. It was on this day the Press Council of India started functioning as a moral watchdog to ensure that the press maintain high standards and is not fettered by any influence or threats.

International Day for Tolerance

  • International Day for Tolerance is marked on November 16.
  • The day is being celebrated ever since the United Nations marked the year of Tolerance in 1995. The date of November 16 was chosen as it is the anniversary of UNESCO’s Declaration of Principles on Tolerance.

World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims

  • The World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims takes place on the third Sunday in November every year. This year it falls on Nov 15th . The theme for WDoR in 2020 is “First Responders”.

National Epilepsy Day

  • Every year, the National Epilepsy Day is celebrated on November 17. The day is celebrated to create awareness about epilepsy. International Epilepsy Day: Every year 2nd Monday of February.

Naturopathy Day

  • The National Naturopathy Day is observed in India on 18 November every year, to promote positive mental and physical health through drugless system of medicine, called as Naturopathy.

World Toilet Day- 19th nov

  • Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation of Ministry of Jal Shakti will celebrate ‘World Toilet Day’ under ‘Swachh Bharat Mission-Grameen for promoting awareness on access to safe sanitation. The theme of this year’s World Toilet Day is sustainable sanitation and climate change.

Indian Army celebrates 240th Corps of Engineers Day

  • Indian Army celebrated the 240th Corps of Engineers Day.  In a solemn ceremony organized at ‘National War Memorial’, Lt Gen SK Shrivastava, Engineer-in-Chief along with other serving officers, laid wreaths and paid homage to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country.

International Men’s Day

  • International Men’s Day is observed every year on November 19. This year, the International Men’s Day theme is ‘Better health for men and boys’.

National Integration Day

  • National Integration Day is celebrated on November 19 every year.
  • The day marks the birth anniversary of the first woman Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi.

Universal Children’s Day

  • World Children’s Day was first established in 1954 as Universal Children’s Day and is celebrated on 20 November each year. This year the theme is ”Investing in our future means investing in our children”.

The Minister stated, the 21-member Inter-Ministerial Committee will be headed by Secretary of Department of Heavy Industries.

Rajnath Singh unveils model of Anti-Satellite Missile at DRDO Bhawan

  • A model of Anti-Satellite Missile installed inside the DRDO Bhawan premises was unveiled by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. ‘Mission Shakti’ was the country’s first ever Anti-Satellite (A-SAT) Missile Test successfully conducted on 27th March 2019 from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island in Odisha.

RBI cancels Certificate of Authorisation of five PSOs

  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has cancelled the Certificate of Authorisation (CoA) of five Payment System Operators (PSOs), including Aircel Smart Money Ltd and Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System
  • The five PSOs, which also includes Pyro Networks Pvt Ltd, Card Pro Solutions Pvt Ltd, and InCashMe Mobile Wallet Services Pvt Ltd, were issued COA for issuance and operation of prepaid payment instruments.

RBI imposes Rs 1 crore penalty on Punjab National Bank

  • State-run Punjab National Bank stated the RBI has imposed a penalty of Rs 1 crore on it for contravention of the Payment and Settlement Systems Act.

HDFC Bank, IndusInd in ‘red flag’ list on nearing foreign investment cap

  • Private sector lenders HDFC Bank and IndusInd Bank have been put in the so-called ‘red flag’ list, a system used for monitoring foreign portfolio investor (FPI) limits. A listed company enters the list when the available legroom for overseas investment is less than 3 per cent of the permissible limit.

ADB allocates $20 mn to help developing members access Covid-19 vaccine

  • The Asian Development Bank (ADB) stated it has allocated $3 million aid to its developing member countries to access coronavirus vaccine and establish systems to enable equitable and efficient vaccine distribution.

  • RBL Bank has selected Amazon Web Services (AWS) as its preferred cloud service to drive digital transformation. At present, around 40 per cent of the bank’s mission-critical applications are on the cloud platform.

  • With Lakshmi Vilas Bank’s efforts to raise capital reaching a dead-end, the Reserve Bank of India superseded the board of the loss-making lender, placed the bank under moratorium and announced a draft scheme for its amalgamation with DBS Bank India Ltd (DBIL).

RBI names 2 startups as a part of its regulatory sandbox programme

  • Reserve Bank of India has announced the names of two startups that have been selected as a part of its regulatory sandbox programme. RBI stated, it has shortlisted six companies out of 32 entities that had applied for the ‘Test Phase’ of the first cohort.

  • Reserve Bank of India imposed restrictions on withdrawals from Maharashtra-based Mantha Urban Cooperative Bank for six months.
  • Rs 20 lakh on Bengaluru-based Shushruati Souharda Sahakara Bank Niyamita for deficiencies in regulatory compliance.
  • A penalty of Rs 1 lakh on The Deccan Urban Co-operative Bank, Vijayapura, Karnataka.
  • Rs 10 lakh on Muthoot Finance , Ernakulam, for non-compliance with directions
  • Rs 5 lakh on Manappuram Finance, Thrissur for non-compliance with directions on verification of ownership of gold jewellery.

Yes Bank launches co-branded prepaid card with Neokred for cashless payments

  • Yes Bank stated it has launched a co-branded prepaid card in partnership with Neokred Technologies to facilitate cashless payments. Yes Bank in partnership with Neokred Technologies has launched ‘Yes Bank Neokred Card’, a co-branded prepaid card, encouraging cashless payments.

RXIL, Tata AIG initiate trade credit insurance in sandbox environment

  • Receivables Exchange of India Ltd (RXIL) initiated a Trade Credit Insurance (TCI) backed transaction with Tata AIG as the insurer and ICICI Bank and Yes Bank as the financiers in a sandbox environment.
