  • The National Cyber Forensic Laboratory (NCFL) was established on the grounds of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in Hyderabad by Home Minister Amit Shah.
  • NITI Aayog launched the National Data & Analytics Platform (NDAP) for free public usage.
  • Eight Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) were signed at the first Incredible India International Cruise Conference that was jointly organised by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, the Government of India and FICCI.

  • The world’s longest suspension footbridge named Sky Bridge 721 was opened to the public in Czech Republic’s Dolni Morava village for tourists.

  • Chhattisgarh has become the first state in the country to restore the old pension scheme in order to provide assured income to retired employees.
  • Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav has announced that The Ramgarh Vishdhari Sanctuary in Rajasthan was notified as India’s 52nd tiger reserve & it is Rajasthan’s fourth tiger reserve after Ranthambore Tiger Reserve (RTR) in Sawai Madhopur, Sariska Tiger Reserve (STR) in Alwar, Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve (MHTR) in Kota.
  • Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant has launched a first-of-its-kind public interaction programme, ‘Lok Milni’, on hearing grievances of people and issuing directions for their redressal.
  • The Delhi Cabinet has approved the implementation of the Delhi Startup Policy to create business leaders and entrepreneurs from among the youth and make Delhi the startup destination of the world.
  • The Government of Kerala will launch a first-of-its-kind initiative state-owned over-the-top (OTT) platform, named ‘CSpace’, on November 1 (coinciding with the Kerals’s formation day ).
  • Nexcharge, a joint venture between India’s Exide Industries Limited and Swiss-based Leclanché SA, has started the mass production of the nation’s largest lithium-ion battery packs at its factory in Prantij, Gujarat.

  • Export-Import Bank of India (Exim Bank) has entered into an agreement dated January 06, 2022 with the SBM (Mauritius) Infrastructure Development Company Ltd (SBMIDCL), for making available to the latter, Government of India supported Line of Credit (LoC) of USD 190 million.
  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) imposed several restrictions on Shankarrao Pujari Nutan Nagari Sahakari Bank Limited, Ichalkaranji, Kolhapur, including on withdrawals, in view of the lender’s worsening financial position.
  • Union Bank of India (UBI) has launched a digital solution, ‘Trade nxt’ to ease all cross-border export-import transactions for corporates and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
  • The country’s airline SpiceJet & India’s third largest private sector bank, Axis Bank have partnered to launch the most rewarding co-branded credit card, powered by Visa that will offer a host of privileges and benefits to customers & the card is available in two variants SpiceJet Axis Bank Voyage & Voyage Black.
  • Global brokerage firm Morgan Stanley has lowered India’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth forecast for the current financial year to 7.6 percent from 7.9 percent for F2023.

  • The Reserve Bank of India has stated Public sector banks reported over 51% dip in the amount involved in frauds to Rs 40,295.25 crore during the financial year ended March 2022 & the 12 PSBs (Public Sector Banks) had reported frauds worth Rs 81,921.54 crore in preceding fiscal 2020-21.
  • S&P Global Ratings cut India’s growth projection for the current fiscal to 7.3 percent from 7.8 percent earlier on rising inflation and the longer-than-expected Russia-Ukraine conflict.

  • Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa appointed Opposition leader and former premier Ranil Wickremesinghe as 26th Prime Minister of the country after his predecessor Mahinda Rajapaksa resigned following violent protests over the worst economic crisis in the debt-ridden island nation.
  • The Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates elected Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan as the President of UAE & he replaced Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who died at the age of 73.
  • On May 15, 2022, Tripura BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP Manik Saha will be the new chief minister of Tripura at Raj Bhawan in Agartala & he was appointed after Biplab Kumar Deb stepped down from the post.

  • Senior Indian Foreign Service officer Vinay Mohan Kwatra took charge as India’s new Foreign Secretary & he succeeded incumbent Harsh Vardhan Shringla.
  • On May 01, 2022, The Indian Army’s Director General of Military Operations, Lt. Gen. B.S. Raju, has been appointed as the next Vice Chief of the Army Staff & he will succeed incumbent Gen Manoj Pande.
  • Music app firm JioSaavn has appointed former Amazon Music director and entertainment industry veteran Sahas Malhotra as new CEO of JioSaavn & he replaced former CEO and JioSaavn co-founder Rishi Malhotra.
  • InterGlobe Aviation has appointed Venkataramani Sumantran as chairman of its Board of Directors & he succeeds Meleveetil Damodaran, who stepped down from his position on attaining the age of 75 years.
  • Somalia’s former leader Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has been elected as president of Somalia after defeating Mohamed Abudallahi Farmajo who has been in office since 2017.
  • Larsen & Toubro has re-appointed N. Subrahmanyan as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the company, with effect from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2027 & he will replace A.M. Naik is the CEO of the company.
  • Sudarshan Venu has been appointed as Managing Director of TVS Motor Company.
  • Centrist politician Elisabeth Borne was appointed France’s new prime minister by France President Emmanuel Macron & Borne will replace Jean Castex.
  • Air Marshal Sanjeev Kapoor took charge as Director General (Inspection and Safety) [DG(I&S)] of Indian Air Force at Air HQ New Delhi on 01 May 2022.
  • Chairman of Power Finance Corporation, Ravinder Singh Dhillon has taken the additional charge of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of REC Limited for three months or until further orders, whichever is earlier & the development follows the elevation of S K G Rahate to the post of Secretary, Ministry of Power.

  • OMC Power announced a long-term relationship agreement with the Indian Renewable Energy Dev Agency Ltd (IREDA) towards building a Rural renewable energy ecosystem.
  • The Ministry of Rural Development and Amazon Seller Services Private Limited (Amazon) signed an MoU at Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi & Signatories :Sh.   • Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), Hyderabad, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indian Navy to provide training services and support to the School of Naval Oceanology and Meteorology (SNOM) for conduct of various courses related to operational oceanography.

  • An online food-delivery app, Swiggy has agreed to buy Times Internet’s restaurant technology and dining out platform Dineout for $200 million
  • The Competition Commission of India (CCI) approved acquisitions of a majority stake in Magma HDI General Insurance Company Ltd by Sanoti Properties LLP & proposed deal Covidshield Technologies Pvt Ltd (CTPL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Serum Institute of Life Sciences, will be merged into Biocon Biologics Limited.

  • The Central government has launched the “GatiShakti Sanchar” platform for centralised Right of Way (RoW) permissions in order to allow universal and equal access to broadband services across India, particularly in rural areas.

  • The Indian Air Force (IAF) has successfully test-fired an extended-range version of BrahMos supersonic cruise missile from a Sukhoi fighter jet in the Bay of Bengal.
  • Defence minister Shri Rajnath Singh launched two made-in-India warships ‘Surat’ and ‘Udaygiri’ at the Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
  • Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and Indian Navy successfully conducted maiden flight-test of indigenously-developed Naval Anti-Ship Missile launched from a Naval Helicopter from Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur off the coast of Odisha.
  • The new generation two-seater flying trainer aircraft, HANSA-NG designed and developed by Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)-National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), successfully completed in-flight engine relight test at the aeronautical test range (ATR) facility of Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO) at Challakere in Chitradurga district, Karnataka.
  • The US Air Force had conducted a successful test of a hypersonic weapon, which flew at five times the speed of sound.

  • The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO ) successfully completed the static test of a human-rated solid rocket booster (HS200) for the Gaganyaan programme at Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.
  • The National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL) initiated taxi trials for the evaluation of an indigenously developed digital anti-skid braking system for the civil aircraft, SARAS Mk2, 19-seat Light Transport aircraft.
  • According to the American space agency National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), has stated that a giant space rock Asteroid 388945 (2008 TZ3) 1,608 feet wide would make a close approach to earth.

  • According to Forbes’ highest-paid athletes list for 2022 , Paris Saint-Germain star footballer Lionel Messi topped the list with a reported income of $130 million followed by Basketball players, Lebron James and Cristiano Ronaldo with $121.2 million and $115 million income respectively in the world over the last 12 months
  • According to the World Economic Forum’s new report, titled Fostering Effective Energy Transition 2022, urgent action is required by both private and public sectors to ensure a resilient transition as the world faces the most severe energy crisis since the 1970s.
