  • On Nov 23, 2021, Coal and Mine Minister Prahlad Joshi Inaugurated E-portal of accreditation scheme for minerals exploration and handed over 52 mines block to 15 state government’s representatives including two northeast states in 5th National Conclave on Mines and Minerals at New Delhi.
  • The Union Cabinet has approved the extension for the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY-Phase V) for a period of another 4 months e. December 2021 till March 2022 @ 5 kg per person per month free of cost for all the beneficiaries covered under the National Food Security Act [Antodaya Anna Yojana & Priority Households] including those covered under Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
  • The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the formation of Company to privatize the electricity distribution business in the Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, sale of Equity Shares of the newly formed Company to highest bidder and formation of Trust(s) for serving employees’ liabilities.
  • The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi gave its approval for continuation of the umbrella scheme “Atmosphere & Climate Research-Modelling Observing Systems & Services (ACROSS)” along with its eight sub-schemes to the next finance cycle of five years i.e. 2021-2026 at an estimated cost of 2,135 crore.
  • The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to gave its approval for continuation of the umbrella scheme “Ocean Services, Modelling, Application, Resources and Technology (O-SMART)” of Ministry of Earth Sciences, for implementation during the period from 2021-26 at an overall cost of 2177 crore.
  • The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has accorded its approval for stipendiary support of Rs. 3,054 crores to apprentices who undergo apprenticeship training under National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) of Ministry of Education for the period from 2021-22 to 2025-26.

  • BOB Financial Solutions Limited (BFSL), a Non-Banking Financial Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bank of Baroda, has partnered with National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to launch BoB Credit Cards (in two variants of Easy and Premier) on the RuPay platform.
  • The Network International, a digital commerce company based in Dubai, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with NPCI International Payments Ltd (NIPL), the international arm of National Payment Corporation of India to facilitate UPI transactions in the UAE.
  • The Government of India, Government of Andhra Pradesh and the World Bank on has signed the legal agreements for $250 million for a project which aims to improve quality of learning for over 50 lakh students in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
  • ICICI Bank has announced the launch of an online platform, ‘Trade Emerge’, to offer comprehensive digital banking as well as value-added services to exporters and importers across India.

  • Competition Commission of India (CCI) has approved the acquisition of a minority stake in logistics services provider Delhivery Ltd by FedEx Express, a unit of American transportation giant FedEx Corp.
  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has granted approval to state-owned insurance behemoth, Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), to raise its stake in private lender Kotak Mahindra Bank up to 9.99 percent.

  • The 15th edition of the biennial Trilateral Exercise ‘Dosti’ between the Maldives, India, and Sri Lanka is taking place in the Maldives from November 20 to 24, 2021.
  • The Sagar Shakti Mega Military Exercise was held from November 19 to 22, 2021 held in creek sector of the Kutch peninsula. 
  • Pune-headquartered Southern Command of the Army launched Exercise Dakshin Shakti in Rajasthan and Gujarat.
  • On Nov 23 & 24, 2021, Navies of India and Indonesia are undertaking the 37th edition of India-Indonesia Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT) along the International Maritime Boundary Line.
  • ∙ On Nov 25, 2021, The Indian Navy commissioned India’s fourth Scorpene-class submarine INS Vela at the naval dockyard in Mumbai, in the presence of the chief of naval staff Admiral Karambir Singh. ∙ This is the fourth of the six submarines the Indian Navy is to induct under the Kalvari-class submarine Project 75.

  • As part of ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’ and ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations, a live ‘Symphony orchestra’ was conducted by the Air Force Band of the Indian Air Force (IAF) at Golconda Fort.

  • NASA selected Investigation of Convective Updrafts (INCUS) through the agency’s Earth Venture Mission-3 (EVM-3), to study the behavior of tropical storms and thunderstorms, including their impacts on weather and climate models.
  • The China Aerospace Science and Technology Corp. (CASC) announced China launches its third Gaofen-11 reconnaissance satellite from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in northern China & it was launched by a Long March 4B rocket inserting the Gaofen-11 (03) satellite into a 247 by 694-kilometer altitude orbit inclined by 5 degrees.
  • The US-based National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)‘s launched the world’s first planetary defense system called DART spacecraft from the Vandenberg US Space Force Base in California, United States.
  • Skyroot Aerospace, a firm founded and led by former Isro scientists has successfully tested India’s first privately developed fully Cryogenic rocket engine ‘Dhawan-I’.
  • ∙ On Nov 25, 2021, China launched the Shiyan-11 satellite into space aboard a Kuaizhou-1A carrier rocket from Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwestern China.
  • On Nov 26, 2021, The new SARS-CoV-2 variant, B.1.1.529 has been classified as a “Variant of Concern” and is named Omicron, the World Health Organization.
  • On Nov 25, 2021, Pakistan conducted a successful test launch of an indigenously developed Shaheen-1A surface to surface ballistic missile.
