India’s largest reclining statue of lord Budhha being built at Budh gaya

India’s largest reclining statue of Lord Buddha is being built in Bodh Gaya, Bihar.
It will be open for devotees next year.

Built by Buddha International Welfare Mission, the statue will be 100 feet long and 30 feet high.
Lord Buddha is in the sleeping posture in the statue.
The construction of the giant statue started in the year 2019.
It is being made with fiberglass and built by sculptors from Kolkata.

The idol of Lord Buddha is in Mahaparinirvana Mudra which has great importance in Buddhism. Before Mahaparinirvana, Lord Buddha preached to his disciples in this posture.
The idol of this posture of Lord Buddha is in Uttar Pradesh’s Kushinagar where he attained his Mahaparinirvana.
The giant statue of Lord Buddha will be open for devotees from February 2023.

Bodh Gaya is a religious site and place of pilgrimage associated with the Mahabodhi Temple Complex in Gaya district in the Indian state of Bihar.
It is famous as it is the place where Gautama Buddha is said to have attained Enlightenment under what became known as the Bodhi Tree.
Since antiquity, Bodh Gaya has remained the object of pilgrimage and veneration both for Hindus and Buddhists.
In particular, archaeological finds including sculptures show that the site was in use by Buddhists since the Mauryan period.

He is regarded as the founder of the world religion of Buddhism, and revered by Buddhists as an enlightened being, who rediscovered an ancient path to freedom from ignorance, craving and the cycle of rebirth and suffering.
He taught for around 45 years and built a large following, both monastic and lay.

In february 2022, The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi dedicated to the nation the ‘Statue of Equality’ in Hyderabad.
The 216-feet tall Statue of Equality commemorates the 11th century Bhakti Saint Sri Ramanujacharya, who promoted the idea of equality in all aspects of living including faith, caste and creed.
