Meghalaya cabinet approves extension of upper age limit for recruitment in all State Government services
Meghalaya cabinet has approved the extension of the upper age limit for recruitment in all State Government services from 27 years to 32 years and the same has been extended to 37 years for Schedule tribes.
However, this relaxation will not be applicable in the jobs of State police, civil defence Home Guards and other services which require physical activities.
Earlier, the United Democratic Party (Meghalaya) President, Metbah Lyngoh had said that increasing the age limit for the youth is important because a lot of them have reached the age of maturation and cannot apply for the jobs even though there are vacancies available for various posts. He also asked the government to take into account the time that got wasted during the pandemic while making a decision.
The CM also added that to focus on the health sector at the village level, cabinet has approved the policy for Village Health Councils (VHCs) that are aimed at refining community engagement to achieve the goals of the State Health Policy passed in 2021.
What is age relaxation:
- Now age relaxation means, you are provided extra years to apply for the exam. Suppose, for UPSC civil service exams, the age limit is 21 to 30 years, now if you are said that you can give exam from 21 to33 years instead of 30 year, then you have been gifted with age relaxation. That is you can apply for extra 3 years.
