Puzzles Asked in IBPS PO Prelims 2018:

1) 12 persons were seated in two parallel rows, containing six persons each, in such a way that there is an equal distance between adjacent persons. In row 1, A, B, C, D, E and F are seated in a row facing south. In row 2, P, Q, R, S, T, and U are seated in a row facing north. A sits fourth to the right of E. The person facing A sits second to the left of T. Two persons are seating between T and P. C and D are neighbors. Only one person sits between B and C. The person facing D is an immediate neighbor of Q. U is not an immediate neighbor of P and not sit at any extreme ends of the line. S does not face A. D faces the person who sits second to the right of R, who is not an immediate neighbour of U. B does not sit any extreme ends of the line. More than two persons are sitting between P and the one who faces C. Q does not face C.

2) There are five persons L, M, N, O, P are living in a five storage building. The floors of the building are numbered 1-5 from bottom to top.  They have some lucky numbers 11, 25, 37, 52 and 64 but not necessarily in the same order. N lives on an even numbered floor. The sum of the lucky numbers of N and the person living immediately below N is 63. N has an odd number as it’s lucky number. There are two floors between L and the one whose lucky number is 64. L lives below N. M live immediately below N. Difference between the lucky numbers of M and L is more than 15. O’s lucky number is more than M.

3) 8 people P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, and W were born in different years-1945, 1956, 1961, 1973, 1978, 1989, 1996 and 2007 but not necessary in the same order. S was born in odd number year. The difference between the present age S and V is 5. Only 3 people were born between V and T. The present Age of W is twice the present age of Q, As many people born between T and Q as well born between T and P. R was born in end of the year before P.

4) There are 6 people P, Q, R, S, T, and U are arranged according to their ages. R is elder than P and U but less than T. Only two persons are younger than P. T is not the eldest. The one who is second eldest is of 53 years. The one who is the youngest is of 32 years but he is not S

5) There are 5 persons going for the five different works on five days of the week starting from Monday to Friday. E goes on Tuesday. There is no one between E and the one who doing Yoga. F does not go on Friday. There is only one person between F and the one who doing Yoga. There are three persons between M and the one who doing cooking. Painting is done immediately before K. Singing is done somewhere after cooking. S goes immediately before the one who doing gardening.

6) There are six bottles C, D, E, F, G and H are contains juices in different amounts. C contains fewer juices than G and F. E and H contains fewer juices than C but more than D. H is not the second least container of juice. F doesn’t have the maximum amount of juice. The one who has third maximum juice is of 16 liters. The one who contains 2nd least amount of juice is of 9 liters

7) There are 7 people C, M, N, P, R, T and U are likes Shirt, Nail paint, Boot, Tie, Colors, Fruits, Coat but not necessary in the same order. They are live in over one another in a stack. Four people live between N and the one who likes a Tie. N lives above the one who likes Tie. The one who likes Coat lives immediately below the one who likes Tie. Two people live between the one who likes Coat and M. There is only one person between M and the one who likes Nail paint. Two people live between the one who likes Tie and P. P likes Boot. The one who likes Colour lives immediately above R. There is only one person between T and the one who likes Fruits. U lives somewhere above C. C does not like a Coat. M does not like Colour and R does not like Tie.

8). Six friends A, B, C, D, E and F traveling to six different cities Delhi, Pune, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Chennai. They are sitting around a circular table facing the center. There are two people sitting between the one who travels to Kolkata and A. There is only one person sitting between A and the one who travels to Pune ( Either to the left or Right of A). F sits to the immediate left of Pune. F don’t travel to Kolkata. The person traveling to Mumbai sits to the immediate right of the one traveling to Kolkata. There are two persons traveling to Mumbai and Delhi. C sits to the immediate left of the one traveling to Mumbai. A, who travels to Hyderabad sits to the immediate right of D. E does not travel to Pune.

Find the missing number in the series:

2) 10, 40, 60, 72, 78, ?

Logic: difference of difference of difference: 2

Answer: 80

3) 11, 15, 31, 67, 131, ?

4) 14, 28, 84, 336, ?

Logic:  14 × 2 =28

28 × 3 =84

84 × 4 =336

336 × 5 =1680

Puzzle:

Direction (6-11). In each questions, two equations numbered I and II have been given. You have to solve both the equations and mark the appropriate option.

Answer:

I. 2x2 + 9x+9 = 0

x = -6/2, -3/2 = -3, -1.5

II. 15y2 +16y+4 = 0

y = -6/15, -10/15 = -0.4,  -0.66

x < y.

  1. 2x3 = √256
  2. 2y2 + 9y +10 = 0

Answer:

I. 2x3 = 16

x3  = 8

x = 2

II. y = 4/2, 5/2 = 2, 2.5

Answer:

6 x2 – 8x – 3x + 4 = 0

2x(3x-4)- (3x – 4) = 0

3y2 – 3y – 2y + 2 = 0

y = 1, 0.666
