Answers :

1) Answer: A

Savings of Amal = Rs.13000

Expenditure of Amal = 48/52 * 13000 = Rs.12000

Income of Amal = 13000 + 12000 = Rs.25000

Expenditure of Vimal = 12000 * 2/1 = 24000

Income of Vimal = 25000 * 6/5 = Rs.30000

Savings of Vimal = 30000 – 24000 = Rs.6000

2) Answer: E

Red in A = 7x

Yellow in A = 4x

Red in B = 7x + 4

Yellow in B = 75/100 * 4x = 3x

7x + 4x + 7x + 4 + 3x = 88

21x = 84

x = 4

Number of yellow balls in A = 4 * 4 = 16

3) Answer: B

Number of girls = 4x

Number of boys = 75/100 * 4x = 3x

(3x + 21)/(4x + 18) = 4/5

16x + 72 = 15x + 105

x = 33

Total number of students = 7 * 33 = 231

4) Answer: D

Amount of money P have = 11,700 × 6/13 = Rs. 5400

Amount of money Q have = 11,700 × 4/13 = Rs. 3600

Amount of money R have = 11,700 × 3/13 = Rs. 2700

New amount of money with P after increase = 5400 + 800 = Rs. 6200

New amount of money with Q after increase = 3600 + 1600 = Rs. 5200

New amount of money with R after increase = 2700 + 1500 = Rs. 4200

So, the required new ratio is = 6200 : 5200 : 4200 = 31 : 26 : 21

5) Answer: B

Let the number of coins of Rs. 2 = 8x

And the number of coins of 50 paise = 6x

And the number of coins of Rs. 1 = 5x

So, value of Rs. 2 coins = 8x × 2 = 16x

And the value of 50 paise coins = 6x × 0.50 = 3x

And the value of Rs. 1 coins = 5x × 1 = Rs. 5x

So, according to the question,

16x + 3x + 5x = 408

24x = 408

x = 17

This, the total number of coins = (8x + 6x + 5x)

= 19x = 19 × 17 => 323

6) Answer: A

Total employees = 100x

Number of male employees = 55/100 * 100x = 55x

Number of female employees = 45/100 * 100x = 45x

Number of IT employees = 31/50 * 100x = 62x

Number of HR employees = 19/50 * 100x = 38x

Number of male employees in IT = 55x * 60/100 = 33x

Number of male employees in HR = 55x * 40/100 = 22x

Number of female employees in HR = 38x – 22x = 16x

Required ratio = 22:16

= 11:8

7) Answer: A

The ratio of the total number of students in class A to B = 5: 9 (5x, 9x)

9x – 5x=16

4x=16

x =4

Total number of students in class A=5 * 4=20

Total number of students in class B=9 * 4=36

Number of boys in A=3/5 * 20=12

Number of girls in B=5/9 * 36=20

Required ratio=12:20

=3:5

8) Answer: D

Initial number of female employees = 100x

Number of male employee = 100x * 160/100 = 160x

Required ratio = 160x * 75/100:100x * 140/100

= 6:7

9) Answer: A

Number of boys in A = 7x

Number of boys in B = 8x                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Number of girls in B = 4y

Number of girls in A = 4y * 125/100 = 5y

7x + 5y = 165 —–(1)

8x – 4y = 72

2x – y = 18 —-(2)

From (1) and (2)

17x = 255

x = 15

Number of boys in A = 7 * 15 = 105

10) Answer: E

Total strength = 11x + 14x = 25x

(11x + 8)/(14x + 4) = 15/16

210x + 60 = 176x + 128

x = 2

Initial strength of class = 25 * 2 = 50

New strength = 50 + 8 + 4 = 62

Required percentage = (62 – 50)/50 * 100

= 24%

Answers :

11) Answer: A

Total students in the class = 45 * 2 = 90

Number of boys = 5/9 * 90 = 50

Number of girls = 4/9 * 90 = 40

Current number of boys in the class = 50 – 10 = 40

Girls = 40 + 16 = 56

Required ratio = 40: 56 = 5: 7

12) Answer: C

Let us take amount received by B = x

A = x+ 4000

C = x+ 8000

A+B+C =25500

(x+4000) + x + (x+ 8000) = 25500

3x + 12000 = 25500

3x = 13500

x=4500

Ratio of amount received by A, B and C = (4000+4500): 4500: (4500+8000)

= 8500: 4500: 12500

= 85: 45: 125 = 17: 9: 25

13) Answer: C

Let the number of students in the classes be 6x, 7x and 8x respectively;

Total students = 6x+7x+8x = 21x.

Then (6x+15)/(7x+15)=9/10

60x+150=63x+135

x=5

Total students =21*5=105.

14) Answer: D

A + B + C = Rs. 23400

(4/15)* A = (2/5)* B

(A/B) = (2/5) * (15/4) = 3/2

(5/8)* B = (9/16)* C

(B/C) = (9/16) * (8/5) = 9/10

The ratio of A, B and C = 27 : 18 : 20

65’s = 23400

1’s = 360

C’s share = 20’s = Rs. 7200

15) Answer: D

The ratio of income of Raji and Moni = 5 : 6

According to the question,

(5x – 5000)/(6x – 4000) = 10/13

=> 65x – 65000 = 60x – 40000

= > 5x = 25000

=> x = 5000

Income of Raji = 5x = 5 * 5000 = Rs. 25000

Expenditure of Raji = 25000 – 5000 = Rs. 20000

16) Answer: A

Boys: Girls = 4: 5

Unlike Tamil = 4 * 80/100 : 5 * 70/100

= 32: 35

Let the numbers is a, b, c

a: b = 7 : 2

b: c = 5 : 3

a: b: c = (7×5): (5×2) : (2×3)

a: b: c = 35: 10: 6

51 –> 153

35 –> ?

First number = 105

18) Answer: E

The ratio of weight = 7: 11: 6: 4 (7x, 11x, 6x, 4x)

Average weight = 84 kg

=>(7x + 11x + 6x + 4x)/4 = 84

=>28x/4 = 84

=>x = 12

Required sum = (7 * 12) + (6 * 12) = 156 kg

19) Answer: D

(3x + 20)/(4x – 10) = 2/1

8x – 20 = 3x + 20

5x = 40

x = 8

Number of balls in box B = 4 * 8 = 32

20) Answer: B

Total salary = x

Remaining amount = x * 80/100 * 3/10 = 600
