The cabinet ministers of India are appointed by the president, on the advise of the Prime Minister. The cabinet ministers are also known as the senior ministers. The ministers of state of independent charge are known as the junior ministers. Then the ministers of state are known as the deputy ministers. The electoral performance of the MP will create a probability to attain the minister portfolio.

Eligibility Criteria for Union Council of Ministers:

The eligibility for the council of ministers is that the person should be a member of Parliament. The eligibility for the MP are,

  • Should be an Indian citizen.
  • Persons with age less than 25 years are not eligible.
  • Must be a voter of any parliamentary constituency.
  • MP candidate must have 10 proposers.
  • Candidates are required to make a security deposit of Rs.25,000.

 

These are the eligibility criteria for the MP. Thus from the MP, the president will select the union council of ministers on advise of prime minister.

Removal of Union Council of Ministers:

There are various reasons for the removal of union council of ministers, including the cabinet ministers of India. those reasons are,

  • On death of the minister.
  • On self resignation.
  • Dismissal of minister by the president, for some unconstitutional activities.
  • On judiciary direction due to violation of law.
  • On end of eligibility to be an MP.
