• According to the provisional estimates released recently by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, India’s gross domestic product (GDP) for the financial year 2021-22 expanded to 8.7%, the highest in 22 years in terms of back series data.
• The data also showed that the Gross Value Added (GVA) – another measure of national income, grew by 8.1% in FY22.
• Buoyant tax collections and higher nominal GDP growth (including inflation) assisted the Centre in keeping its fiscal deficit at 6.7% of GDP, compared to the 6.9% target for 2021-22.
• Gross Domestic Product (GDP): It is defined as the total monetary or market value of all the finished goods and services produced within a country’s borders in a specific period
• Fiscal deficit: A fiscal deficit is a shortfall in a government’s income compared with its spending.
• India’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth slowed to a four-quarter low of 4.1% during the January-March period, from 5.4% in the preceding quarter, as manufacturing output shrank, provisional national income estimates show.

• PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY):
• It was launched on 9 May 2015. The age limit for this scheme is 18-50 years.
• It provides life cover of Rs 2 lakhs in case of death of the insured, due to any reason.
• The scheme is offered by Life Insurance Corporation and all other life insurance companies.

• PM Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY):
• It was launched on 9 May 2015 to provide affordable insurance for poor & underprivileged people of 18 to 70 years.
• Risk coverage under the scheme is Rs 2 lakh for accidental death & full disability and Rs 1 lakh for partial disability.
• The scheme is offered by Public Sector General Insurance Companies or any other General Insurance Company.

• Exaflop/s (or exaflops) is short for 1 quintillion floating-point operations per second.
