The Indore Municipal Corporation’s Green Bonds have been listed on National Stock Exchange (NSE), marking the first-ever green bond issue by a municipal corporation in India.Green bonds are debt securities designated to finance environmentally friendly projects.In 2008, the World Bank issued its first green bond in response to such increasing demand.Municipal bonds provide an alternative means of financing for urban local bodies and reduce dependency on central and state grants.

Most urban infra bonds can be categorised as green bonds since the proceeds are primarily directed towards energy, transport, water management, sewage treatment and energy-saving. Green Municipal bonds will also attract new foreign investors who specialise in sustainable financing and invest in projects with environmental, social and governance considerations.

The public issue of Indore Municipal bonds received an overwhelming response, with an overall subscription of 5.91 times the issue size.

The global green bond market has surpassed the milestone of 2 trillion USD in terms of cumulative green bond issuance.

In India, corporates, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and financial institutions have issued green bonds worth approximately 10.8 billion USD during 2019-2022.

RK Singh, the minister of power and new and renewable energy, has launched the South Asia Distribution Utility Network (SADUN), which aims to modernise distribution of utilities in South Asia via knowledge sharing among the region’s discoms.SADUN is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Power, USAID and PFC.

USAID had conceptualised SADUN in January 2020 based on a consensus among the participants over a need for an initiative which focused on distribution network in the region.

Apart from enabling knowledge sharing among discoms and enhancing focus on distribution issues at the regional-level, the network aims to enable utility-to-utility (U2U) connect to reap the benefits of aggregation.

USAID has already shared a white paper on SADUN with member nations to “get their concurrence on the blueprint of the network” and move ahead in “the process of implementation.”

Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade has launched the UAE India Business Council – UAE Chapter (UIBC-UC) in Dubai.

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has imposed a fine of ₹2,232 crore on the Delhi government for damage caused to the environment due to improper solid and liquid waste management.It has also set up a panel under Lieutenant-Governor VK Saxena to oversee the capital’s solid waste management.The Bench headed by NGT chairperson Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel asked the Delhi government to pay the fine within a month and credit it to a ring-fenced account from which funds would be withdrawn only for waste management.

In October,2022 the NGT had levied an environmental compensation of ₹900 crore on the National Capital Territory for 3 crore tonnes of undisposed waste in the city’s three landfills.

The committee has been tasked with dealing issues related to solid waste management, including setting up new waste processing facilities, augmenting existing waste processing facilities and reducing legacy waste. Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar will be the convener of this committee, led by Mr. Saxena.

Judges in a high court are appointed by the president of India in consultation with the chief justice of India (CJI)  and the governor of the state under Article 217 of the Constitution.

INS Sumedha is a highly potent warship, which can be deployed for various operational missions.

The defence ties between the two countries were elevated to the level of ‘Comprehensive Strategic Partnership’ during the visit of Sheikh Mohamed, the current President of UAE, as the chief guest on the occasion of Republic Day celebrations in January 2017.

The inaugural edition of the bilateral Exercise Zayed Talwar between the Indian Navy and the UAE Navy was also conducted in March 2018 with an aim to enhance interoperability between the two navies, with the last edition being in August 2021.

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam International Foundation (AKIF) was launched on 11th October 2015.

The rocket can be used for research into weather, atmospheric conditions and radiation.

The reusable rocket has been made by the selected top 100 students & 5,000 students were involved in the project. ·

The selected students designed and constructed a student satellite launch vehicle (rocket) and 150 PICO satellite research experiment cubes that contained different payloads

The student team included 200 from the fishermen’s community in TN and Pondicherry.

A team of scientists and Sherpa have again placed its new version & the group has been led by a 31-year-old electrician and mountain guide TenzingGyalzenSherpa.·

A team of mountaineers and scientists of National Geographic Society (NatGeo) have placed a new weather station at 8,810 metres, just 39 metres (128 ft) below Everest’s summit.

In May 2022, the team started cleaning up the destroyed Balcony’s weather station and assembling its upgraded version.

Carrying different components of the weather station, the team reached Bishop Rock on May 9 in the chilly winter at -40°C (-40°F).

The reinstallation work of the world’s highest weather station was launched as a part of National Geographic and Rolex’s ‘Return to Everest Expedition’ in May 2022.

Tenzing, Matthews, and Perry with the help of 12 other Sherpa worked to install this weather station.Previously, the weather station was located on Everest’s “Balcony”, around 400 metres lower than the new one.

Notably, it was the first-ever terrestrial weather station that was placed above 8,000 metres.

The information from the weather station will make an impact on the lives of around 1.6 billion people.

Indian educationist and social worker for the promotion of indigenous languages in Odisha Dr. MahendraKumr Mishra was conferred the International Mother Language Award by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in Dhaka.

Dr. Mishra is the first India to receive this award.

Dr. Mishra has worked over three decades on the language, culture  and education of the marginalised languages of Odisha.

The award instituted in 2021 by UNESCO is given in recognition of the extraordinary contribution to the preservation, revitalization and development of mother languages.

Prime Minister Hasina conferred the two national awards and two international awards to four recipients in Dhaka.

Bangladeshi nationals Habibur Rahman and Ranjit Singha were given the national awards, while Mahendra Kumar Mishra and Mother Language Lovers of World Society, Vancouver, Canada were conferred with the international awards

This approach will allow the Centres to effectively develop a common maritime understanding to counter non-traditional maritime security threats such as piracy and armed robbery, human and contraband trafficking, Illegal Unregulated and Unreported (IUU) fishing, arms running, poaching, maritime terrorism, etc with a special focus on the Western Indian Ocean.

IDEX-2023 will be held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, from February 20–24.

Sunjay Sudhir, the Indian ambassador to the UAE, stopped by IDEX, the country’s premier defenceexposition.In the ongoing defence exhibition, other businesses have also signed contracts. For instance, the first-ever Transfer of Technology (ToT) in defence products was agreed upon by ICOMM, a group business of Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Ltd. (MEIL), and CARACAL, an EDGE entity based in the UAE.
