World First Aid Day

  • World First Aid Day is observed on the second Saturday of September, every year.
  • The theme of World First Aid Day 2020 is an annual campaign to promote the importance of first aid training in preventing injuries and saving lives.

Hindi Diwas being observed across the country

  • Hindi Diwas is being celebrated across the country on 14th sep. It was on this day in 1949 that the constituent assembly adopted Hindi written in Devanagari as the official language of the country.

Cabinet approves asset monetization of subsidiaries of PGCIL through Infrastructure Trust

  • The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved Asset Monetization of subsidiaries of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited- POWERGRID through Infrastructure Investment Trust.
  • It has given approval to POWERGRID  to undertake monetization of its Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) assets, held in existing Special Purpose Vehicle (SPVs), through Infrastructure Investment Trust (InvIT).

India’s child mortality rate declined between 1990 and 2019: UN

  • India’s child mortality rate has declined substantially between 1990 and 2019 but the country, along with Nigeria, still accounted for almost a third of all under-five deaths last year, according to a new UN report.
  • The ‘Levels & Trends in Child Mortality’ Report 2020 stated that the number of global under-five deaths dropped to its lowest point on record in 2019 — down to 2 million from 12.5 million in 1990.

GDP to contract 9% in FY21, says Crisil

Punjab CM Amarinder Singh launches Smart Ration Card Scheme

  • Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh launched the Smart Ration Card Scheme to cover 1.41 crore beneficiaries across the state. Rolling out the scheme virtually, with connection to 100 places across the state, the Chief Minister stated, 37.5 lakh cards will be distributed to the eligible beneficiaries this month.

Gujarat declares its first heritage tourism policy

  • Unveiling the first “heritage tourism policy”, Gujarat government allowed opening up of heritage hotels, museums, banquet halls and restaurants inside historic palaces, forts and buildings. This policy is applicable to historic structures that existed before January 1, 1950 and will allow international and domestic tourists to see and experience historic structures from close quarters.

Kerala Most Literate State in Country With 96.2% Literacy, Andhra Worst Performer at 66.4%

  • A recent report based on National Statistical Office (NSO) survey stated that Kerala has once again emerged as the most literate state in the country with 2 per cent literacy. On the other hand, Andhra Pradesh is at the bottom with a rate of 66.4 per cent. After Kerala, Delhi has the best literacy rate at 88.7 per cent, followed by Uttarkhand’s 87.6 per cent, Himachal Pradesh’s 86.6 per cent and Assam’s at 85.9 per cent.
