  • An Indian natural gas distribution company, Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL), has appointed Mahesh Vishwanathan Iyer as the new chairman of MGL.
  • Conservative Party leader Liz Truss was formally appointed as the 56th prime minister of the United Kingdom by Queen Elizabeth II at the Balmoral estate in Scotland, UK.
  • InterGlobe Aviation, the parent company of low-cost carrier IndiGo has appointed aviation industry veteran Pieter Elbers as its Chief Executive Officer.
  • Newly elected All India Football Federation (AIFF) President Mr. Kalyan Chaubey chaired Executive Committee and has appointed Shaji Prabhakaran as the new Secretary General of the AIFF.
  • Senior diplomat Sanjay Kumar Verma has been appointed as India’s next high commissioner to Canada. 
  • Indian superfood brand Pintola, Fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) has announced an Indian Football captain Sunil Chhetri, who will endorse their products as a brand ambassador.
  • United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres appointed Volker Turk of Austria as the next United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, following approval by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

  • Rosneft-owned Nayara Energy has appointed Mr. Prasad K Panicker, director and head of the refinery, as the chairman of the company, effective 3 October 2022.
  • The National Electoral Commission (CNE) announced that Angola’s incumbent President Mr. João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço won a second term as the President of Angola after the ruling People’s Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) party was declared the winner of Angola’s general election.
  • The Chief Justice of Madras High Court, Justice Mr. Munishwar Nath Bhandari has been appointed as Chairman of the Appellate Tribunal under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

  • Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) will acquire a 79.4% stake in California-based solar energy software developer SenseHawk for USD 32 million (around Rs 256 crore)
  • The Competition Commission of India (CCI) approves the acquisition of a stake in Apraava Energy Private Limited (Target) by CDPQ Infrastructures Asia II Pte. Ltd. (Acquirer) under Section 31(1) of the Competition Act, 2002.
