Likee creates Guinness World Record for I-Day campaign

  • Likee, the pioneering global short video creation platform, has won the Guinness World Record for creating the largest online video album of people waving the Indian flag during its ‘No matter where I am, #IAMINDIAN’ campaign.
  • During the campaign, Indians created more than 2.5 lakh videos which garnered more than 225.3 million views. Indian ace sprinter Hima Das also participated in the initiative.
  • #IAMINDIAN campaign successfully hit the right chord among the Indian youth who leveraged the platform to create unique videos while waving the Indian flag to showcase their patriotism.

Mumbai Youth Solves Nine Pyraminxe Puzzles Underwater, Creates New Guinness World Record

  • A 20-year-old Chinmay Prabhu from Mumbai has created a world record for the 2nd time under his name of solving 176 pyraminx (pyramid-shaped rubik’s cube) puzzles while riding a bicycle in 1 hour and 7 minutes. He broke the record of solving 111 pyraminx puzzles.
  • On December 2018, He had set the Guinness Book of World Records of solving 9 rubik’s cubes underwater in 1 minute and 48 seconds. The record set Prabhu a target of 4 Pyraminxes, but he went on to solve nine.
  • Prabhu also made an entry into the Limca Book of Records for solving mirror cube blindfolded.

Prasar Bharati will introduce 2 awards namely ‘Neelum Sharma Tejaswini award’ & ‘Achyutananda Sahoo Award’ in honor of Neelum Sharma

  • India’s largest public broadcasting agency, Prasar Bharti’s Chairman A Suryapakash stated that the agency will introduce 2 awards namely ‘Neelum Sharma Tejaswini award’ & ‘Achyutananda Sahoo Award’ in memory of Doordarshan(DD) News (Former anchor), Neelum Sharma who passed away due to cancer.
  • She was known for her programmes like ‘Tejaswini’(Through this show, she focused on woman achievers of India) and ‘Badi Charcha’.

Noida girls create app to connect old-age homes and orphanages, win tech prize in US

  • Five girls have developed a mobile app that connects children at orphanages with senior citizens in old-age homes, with their innovation fetching them a bronze medal at global tech competition in the US.
  • The app, called Maitri, is aimed at bringing together individuals suffering from loneliness and depression and those lacking the nurturing love of elderly role models, said the all-girl team “Tech Witches”.
  • The developers include Ananya Grover, Vanshika Yadav, Vasudha Sudhinder, Anushka Sharma and Arefa, all Class 12 students of Amity International School in Noida.

 66th National Film Awards

  • The 66th National Film awards were announced by Rahul Rawail, head of the Jury for feature films
  • Four hundred and nineteen films competed for the awards this year.
  • The national film awards are given in 31 categories. An Award for the film-friendly state has been instituted this year. Uttarakhand won this year.
