RRB ALP Exam Pattern 2020: Complete Exam Pattern for All Stages

RRB ALP Exam Pattern: Railway recruits candidates through RRB (Railway Recruitment Board) for various posts under Indian Railways. RRB/RRC is the recruiting body which recruits candidates to various posts under Indian Railways. Indian Railways is one of the largest recruiters in India with more than a million working under Indian Railways.

One of the posts for which RRB conducts examination is the RRB ALP or Assistant Loco Pilot. The day to day task of an RRB ALP is as below:-

  • Following orders of Loco Pilots
  • Assisting the Loco Driver with the fine-tuning of the locomotives
  • Regularly checking the locomotive to ensure its efficiency
  • Looking after minor repairing of the locomotive
  • Identifying the defects in the tracks and reporting them

RRB ALP Exam Pattern: Overview

The RRB ALP exam pattern consists of 3 stages:-

  1. First Stage Computer Based Test
  2. Second Stage Computer Based Test
  3. Computer-Based Aptitude Test

RRB ALP Exam Pattern: First Stage CBT

The RRB ALP exam pattern for First Stage CBT is as below:

Note:-

  • It is an MCQ (Multiple Choice Based) paper.
  • A total of 75 questions are asked in total.
  • There is a negative marking of 1/3rd for each question marked as wrong.
  • No marks will be deducted for unattempted questions.
  • Each question carries one mark.
  • First Stage CBT is qualifying in nature and its marks will not be added in the final merit list.

RRB ALP Exam Pattern: Second Stage CBT 

The RRB ALP exam pattern of Second Stage CBT consists of two parts, Part A and Part B.

Below is the RRB ALP exam pattern for the Second Stage CBT:

Note:-

  • Both the stages will be conducted on the same day.
  • Part A marks will be added in the final merit list.
  • Part B is qualifying in nature.
  • Qualifying marks for Part B is 35%
  • Only those candidates who qualify the second stage CBT will be eligible for the Aptitude Test.
  • The Total number of questions asked in this stage is 175.
  • Candidates have to each part separately.
  • There is a negative marking of 1/3rd marks for each question marked as wrong.
  • There are sectional timings in Part A of 90 minutes and 60 minutes in Part B of the paper.
  • The total time allotted for the Second Stage of CBT is two and a half hours.

RRB ALP Exam Pattern: CBAT

  • The third stage of the RRB ALP exam pattern is the CBAT or Computer Based Aptitude Test.
  • Candidates have to qualify all the above stages in order to appear for the Computer Based Aptitude Test.
  • There will be five test batteries, candidates have to score at least 42 in each test battery.
  • There is no negative marking in the CBAT exam.
  • For the final selection, 70% weightage will be given to the marks obtained in Part A of the second stage CBT while 30% weightage will be given to the marks obtained in Aptitude Test.
  • First Stage CBT is qualifying in nature.
