Before the Session

Job Profile of RRB ALP

  • ALP stands for Assistant Loco Pilot
  • A train has an Assistant Loco Pilot and a Loco Pilot.
  • Loco Pilots are the train drivers.
  • ALP will perform only the Assisting work during the run of a locomotive.
  • After learning the tactics, do’s and don’ts he is promoted to the drive the locomotive.
  • Assistant Loco Pilot will be trained to drive locomotives (trains) at not more than 15 km/h Speed.
  • After two years experience the Assistant Loco Pilot are promoted to Loco pilot under the supervision of the “Loco Inspectors”.
  • Various categories of Loco drivers are Goods Drivers, Passenger Driver, Mail Express Driver and Rajdhani Drivers.
