Staff Selection Commission was set up by the Estimates Committee of the Parliament, during the year 1968. The SSC organization is under the government of India, it conducts examinations for recruitment to the lower category posts in various Ministries and Department. The SSC was re-designed in the year 1977 and started the recruitment for Group ‘C’ posts and now it has changed from time to time and recruiting candidates for Group ‘B’ posts for various Ministries and Department. Staff Selection Commission headquarters was located in New-Delhi; it is headed by the Director. The exams are conducted in a well-organized and smooth manner with the help of large networks. There are seven Regional offices and two Sub-Regional Offices headed by the Regional director and Deputy Director skill-fully. The major function of SSC is to conduct competitive examinations and interviews whenever there is requirement for the recruitment. The job vacancies are notified and the exam date was announced, the rules and eligibility for the various posts are declared clearly and the online examination was conducted in a secured manner and interview is conducted for the selected candidates.

Eligibility Criteria to Apply for SSC CHSL – Staff Selection Commission:
SSC CHSL – Educational Qualification:
- Candidates those who are applying for SSC CHSL must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.
- For SSC CHSL – Data Entry Operator in the Office of Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG): 12th Standard pass in Science stream with Mathematics as a subject from a recognized Board or equivalent.

SSC CHSL – Age Limit:
Candidates applying for SSC CHSL must be under the age group of min-18 to max-27 years.

Selection Procedure for SSC CHSL Recruitment:
- SSC CHSL Candidates will be shortlisted for Tier-II Examination on the basis of their performance in Tier-I. There may be separate cut-offs for different posts i.e DEO, DEO Grade ‘A’, LDC/ JSA, PA/ SA in Tier-I and subsequent Tiers.
- SSC CHSL Candidates will be shortlisted for Tier-III Examination the basis of their performance in (Tier-I + Tier-II) subject to having minimum score of 33% in Tier-II.
- SSC CHSL Tier-III Examination i.e. Skill Test will be of qualifying type. The candidates who qualify TierIII will be called for Document Verification to check the eligibility of candidates as per information given by him/ her in the online Application Form.

This SSC CHSL examination tier will consist of Objective Type – Multiple choice questions only. The questions will be set both in English & Hindi for Part-II, III & IV. Also there will be negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer.

General Intelligence: It would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. Number Systems: Computation of Whole Number, Decimal and Fractions, Relationship between numbers
Fundamental arithmetical operations: Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Square roots, Averages, Interest (Simple and Compound), Profit and Loss, Discount, Partnership Business, Mixture and Allegation, Time and distance, Time and work. In this SSC CHSL also we can expect questions from the below given quantitative aptitude topics Algebra, Geometry, Mensuration, Trigonometry, Statistical Charts.
General Awareness: Questions are designed to test the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions are also designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General policy and scientific research.
For VH candidates of 40% and above visual disability and opting for SCRIBES there will be no component of Maps/ Graphs/ Diagrams/ Statistical Data in the General Intelligence & Reasoning/ Quantitative Aptitude.
SSC CHSL Tier-II (Descriptive Paper)
SSC CHSL Tier-II Paper will be a descriptive Paper of 100 Marks in ‘Pen and Paper Mode The duration of the paper would be for one hour (20 minutes compensatory time will also be provided to the candidates mentioned in Para 7 above). This paper has been introduced to assess the writing skills of the candidates which is necessary in Government jobs. The Paper would comprise writing of an Essay of 200-250 words and Letter/ Application of approximately 150-200 words. The minimum qualifying marks would be 33 percent. The performance in Tier II would be included for preparing merit. The paper will have to be written either in Hindi or in English. Part paper written in Hindi and Part in English will not be evaluated.
SSC CHSL Tier-III Examination
SSC CHSL Tier-III of the Examination would be the Skill Test/ Typing Test which would be of qualifying nature. Skill Test/ Typing Test would be in consonance with the provisions contained in para 12.2 and 12.3 given below. The final merit of the successful candidates would be determined on the basis of total score obtained by them in Tier-I and Tier-II.
Skill Test for Data Entry Operator Post in SSC CHSL:
- Data Entry Speed of 8,000 (eight thousand) Key Depressions per hour on Computer.
- For post of Data Entry Operator in the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG):- A speed Test of not less than 15000 key depressions per hour for data entry work to be ascertained through speed test on Computer
SSC CHSL Preparation tips
When you are getting ready for the competitive exams, there are certain things to be followed.
- Studying during the early hours will make the topics clear; choose early hours for the reasoning sections.
- The aptitude section requires lot of work-outs, be clear with the concepts and strong knowledge on the basics of mathematics is mandatory.
- Language section requires strong knowledge on grammar and vocabulary, so the regular practice of speaking in English helps you a lot.
- Maintain the notes properly, if you find any difficulties clarify that immediately with your friends or staff.
- Spend more time on studies and take breaks to continue with same enthuse.
- Take regular tests to know your skills and improvements.
