Answers:

Directions (Q.1-5):

1). Answer: a

? = 7.5% of 140 + 2.5% of 80

= (75×140 / 10×100) + (25×80 / 10×100) = 10.5 + 2 = 12.5

2). Answer: d

3/5 of 4/7 of 7/12 of 1375 = ?

=>1375/5

=>275

3). Answer: b

32.05 × 15 + ? = 500

480.75 + ? = 500

X= 500 – 480.75

X =19.25

4). Answer: c

? = 1 (8/9) + 3 (2/7) – 2 (1/7) + 11 (1/6)

= (1+3+11-2) + [(8/9) + (2/7) + (1/6) – (1/7)]

= 13 + [(8/9) + (1/7) + (1/6)] =14 (25/126)

5). Answer: a

56%958 + 67% of 1008

= 536.48 + 675.36 = 1211.84

Now, 1211.84 = ? % of 2000

? = 60.592

Directions (Q. 6-10):

6). Answer: e

The series is +8 -1, +16 -3, +32 -5, +64 -7,

(or)

Third difference of the following series is 8, 16, 32, etc

7). Answer: d

The series is ×2 -1, ×3 +1, ×4 -1, ×5 +1,

9). Answer: a

The series is +1^2 + 1, +2^2 – 1, +3^2 + 1, +4^2 – 1,

10). Answer: c

The series is +4^2 – 3, +8^2 – 6, +12^2 – 9, +16^2 – 12,

  1. Answer: b

8 bag + 5 box = 25 × 13 = 325

4 bag + 7 box = 21 × 11 = 231

12 bag + 12 box = 556

Total cost of 18 bags and 18 boxes

= 556 × 3 / 2

= 834

  1. Answer: d

Let Harish age = x

Then

Harish brother’s age = x + 3

Harish mother’s age = x + 26

Harish sister’s age = (x + 3) + 4 = x + 7

Harish Father’s age = (x + 7) + 28 = x + 35

Age Harish father when Harish brother was born = x + 35 – (x + 3) = 32

  1. Answer: e

Volume of cuboid = volume of two cubes together

36 × 18 × 3 = a^3 + 8a^3

a^3 = 216

a = 6 cm

Surface area of the smaller cube = 6 × 6^2

= 216 cm^2

  1. Answer: c

Work done by X in 1 hour = 1/8

Work done by Y in 1 hour = 1/10

Work done by Z in 1 hour = 1/12

Work done by X,Y and Z in 1 hour = 1/8 + 1/10 + 1/12 = 37/120

Work done by Y and Z in 1 hour = 1/10 + 1/12 = 22/120 = 11/60

From 9 am to 11 am, all the machines were operating.

Ie, they all operated for 2 hours and work completed = 2 × (37/120) = 37/60

Pending work = 1- 37/60 = 23/60

Hours taken by Y an Z to complete the pending work = (23/60) / (11/60) = 23/11

This is approximately equal to 2

Hence the work will be completed approximately 2 hours after 11 am ; ie around 1 pm

  1. Answer: a

Total number of balls = 4 + 8 + 12 = 24

n(s) = 24C3 = 2024

Number of ways to select one ball of each colour

= n (E) = 4C1 × 8C1 × 12C1 = 4 × 8 × 12 = 384

P (E) = 384 / 2024

= 48 / 253

Directions (Q. 16-20):

  1. Answer: e

Ratio of the numbers of students passed in UPSC, IBPS and SSC in Rajasthan

= 2 : 4 : 3

Required % = 9/4 × 100

= 225%.

  1. Answer: a

For SSC, M : F = 53 : 47

Number of Females = 47 × 1272/53 = 1128

Total students in SSC = 1272 + 1128 = 2400

UPSC : IBPS : SSC = 3 : 5 : 4

Number of students in UPSC = 2400 × 3/4

= 1800.

  1. Answer: e

In UPSC, M : F = 34 : 16

Number of Males = 34/16 × 384 = 816

Total number of students in UPSC exam in Bihar

= 816 + 384 = 1200

So, total number of students passed from Bihar

= 7 × 1200 = 8400

Total number of students in SSC

= 8400 × 2/7 = 2400

Number of Males passed in SSC

= 2400 × 31/60 = 1240

Required % = 1240/8400 × 100

= 14.76%.

  1. Answer: c

M : F = 16 : 11

Required % = (16 – 11)/16 × 100

= 500/16

= 31.25% less.

  1. Answer: c

For UPSC, M : F = 31 : 14

Females = 1240/31 × 14 = 560

Total number of students in UPSC = 1800

UPSC : IBPS : SSC = 2 : 4 : 5

IBPS = 1800/2 × 4 = 3600

SSC = 4500

Difference = 4500 – 3600 = 900.
