Answers :

Directions (1-10) :

1) Answer: E

From statement I and II,

Given,

(x – 4) / 12 + (6/15) + (x – 8) / 20 = 1

(x – 4) / 12 + (x – 8) / 20 = 3/5

(5x – 20 + 3x – 24) / 60 = 3/5

8x – 44 = 36

8x = 80

x = 10

Total time taken to fill the tank = 10 min

Both the statement I and II is sufficient to answer the question.

2) Answer: D

From Statement I,

Area of the rectangle= 160 cm2

So, Statement I alone is not sufficient to the answer the question.

From Statement II,

Area of parallelogram = 192 cm2

So, Statement II alone is not sufficient to the answer the question.

3) Answer: D

From statement I,

Total number of employees = 1500

Number of male to female employees in IT department = 4/5

So, Statement I alone is not sufficient to answer the question.

From statement II,

Difference between the number of female employees from IT and Sales = 180

So, Statement II alone is not sufficient to answer the question.

4) Answer: C

From statement I,

Length of the train = 60 * 5/18 * 18 = 300 m

So, Statement I alone is sufficient to answer the question.

From statement II,

Length of the train + 400 = 60 * 5/18 * 36

Length of the train = 200m

So, Statement II alone is sufficient to answer the question.

Either statement I or II alone is sufficient to answer the question.

5) Answer: A

From statement I,

The share of P, Q and R,

= > [3x * 6 + (3x + 5000) * 6] : [5x * 12] : [7x * 9 + (7x – 15000) * 3] = 14 : 20 : 25

= > [18x + 18x + 30000] : [60x] : [63x + 21x – 45000] = 14 : 20 : 25

= > [36x + 30000] : [60x] : [84x – 45000] = 14 : 20 : 25

According to the question,

(36x + 30000) / 60x = (14/20)

36x + 30000 = 42x

6x = 30000

x = 5000

The initial investment of Q = 5x = Rs. 25000

Statement I alone is sufficient to answer the question.

From statement II,

The share of P, Q and R,

= > [3x * 8 + (3x + 5000) * 4] : [5x * 8 + (5x – 10000) * 4] : [7x * 12]

= > [24x + 12x + 20000] : [40x + 20x – 40000] : [84x]

= > [36x + 20000] : [60x – 40000] : [84x]

We can’t find the initial investment. Because they are not given the ratio of profit.

Statement II alone is not sufficient to answer the question.

6) Answer: D

From statement I,

Distance = x

Distance travelled by bus = 60/100 * x = 3x/5

Distance travelled by car = 40/100 * x = 2x/5

Speed of bus = y

Speed of car = z

(3x/5/y) + (2x/5)/z = 12

3x/5y + 2x/5z = 12

So, Statement I alone is not sufficient to answer the question.

From statement II,

Distance = x

Distance travelled by bus = 20/100 * x = x/5

Distance travelled by car = 80/100 * x = 4x/5

Speed of bus = y

Speed of car = z

(x/5)/y + (4x/5)/z = 12 + 4 = 16

So, Statement II alone is not sufficient to answer the question.

7) Answer: D

From statement I,

Abi/Divya = 5/4

(Divya + 4)/(Esai + 4) = 5/3

Esai – Deepak = 8

So, Statement I alone is not sufficient to answer the question.

From statement II,

Bharu – Esai = 10

So, Statement II alone is not sufficient to answer the question.

8) Answer: C

From statement I,

Cost price of TV = 25000 * (100/125) = Rs. 20000

Statement I alone is sufficient to answer the question.

From statement II,

25000 * (90/100) = (80/100) * CP

CP = 25000 * (90/80) = Rs. 28125

Statement II alone is sufficient to answer the question.

9) Answer: E

From statement I:

Number of yellow balls is twice the number of green balls.

From statement II:

Probability of drawing one green ball from the bag is 1/6.

From statement I and II:

Red = 4

Blue = 5

Let, green = n

Yellow = 2n

Total number of balls = 4 + 5 + n + 2n = 9 + 3n

n/(9 + 3n) = 1/6

=> 6n = 9 + 3n

=> 6n – 3n = 9

=> 3n = 9

=> n = 3

Total number of balls = 9 + 3 x 3 = 18

Hence, data in both the statements I and II together are necessary to answer the question.

10) Answer: C

From statement I,

Let the principle be x,

Amount = 6x

S.I = 6x – x = 5x

S.I = Pnr / 100

5x = (x * 20 * r) / 100

r = 500 / 20 = 25 %

Only statement I is sufficient to answer the question.

From statement II,

The difference between the simple interest and compound interest for 2 years is,

Diff = Sum * (r / 100)2

3125 = 50000 * (r / 100)2

3125 = 50000 * (r2 / 10000)

r2 = 3125 / 5 = 625

r = 25 %

Only statement II is sufficient to answer the question.
